Beat the Heat

A message for Chief Health and Well-Being Offer, Ben Batey

Bowling Green is a four-season campus, and heat and humidity are not uncommon for Ohio this time of year. We want to ensure you are aware of the ways in which you can stay cool and hydrated at Bowling Green State University.

With above average heat and humidity, it is important to consider taking precautionary measures, including staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun during peak temperatures. Should you experience any health issues related to the heat, please reach out to the Falcon Health Center or emergency services for help.

We encourage you to learn more about  how to stay safe in hot weather and take measures to stay cool, hydrated and informed.

Air-conditioned buildings are available across campus for students, faculty and staff to avoid the heat throughout their day. Common buildings include the Student Recreation Center, which will have extended hours today, the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, Jerome Library and Slater Family Ice Arena. In addition, there are free water refilling stations in buildings throughout campus.

Staying safe in the heat

  • Stay hydrated
  • Wear light clothing and colors
  • Protect skin and eyes
  • Campus is about 2 square miles, utilizing the BG Shuttle Bus that doesn't only go around campus but can take you off campus to Meijer is a great way to keep yourself cool.
