Summer Faculty Writing Retreat Application - NOW OPEN!

Join the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and University Libraries for the Summer 2026 Faculty Writing Retreat, an intensive, three-day, in-person writing retreat running from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, July 31, 2026. Designed to advance participants’ individual goals and projects, this retreat will provide you with an opportunity to connect with colleagues, accomplish scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing goals, and receive resources and support from various departments across campus.   During each day of the retreat, you will have dedicated time to write and work individually on your own projects. The retreat also includes opportunities for goal-setting and networking, as well as sessions and individual consultations. At the end of the retreat, you will reflect on your accomplishments and set goals for the upcoming academic year.  By participating, you will be able to:  Identify specific and attainable goals for your scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing.  Advance your productivity.   Connect with BGSU colleagues.   Identify campus partners and resources that can support your scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing.   Reflect on your progress towards achieving your goals.   Devise a plan to maintain your productivity for the upcoming academic year.   What you need to know:  You must be able to participate in the entirety of the three-day retreat to apply for this opportunity and attend the event. Participation is open to full-time qualified rank faculty (QRF) and tenure-track faculty (TTF).  Interested individuals must apply to participate in the retreat. WYMO Donation Period (When You Move Out, Don't Throw It Out!)

For over 20 years the WYMO program has provided an opportunity for the university community to donate non-perishable food, clothin & shoes, household items, books/school supplies, small furniture, organizers, electronics, dorm decorations, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, bedding, mirrors, toiletries and anything that's still usable instead of throwing it out!  Donations benefit the Falcon Food Pantry, the BGSU community, and a number of area nonprofits and charities in need. Visit our website for the charities we've served. Use up those Falcon Dollars to donate to the Falcon Food Pantry! Can't fit it in your car to take home?  Have too much? Or maybe you want to help the public good? Whatever the case, collection boxes will be in all Residence Hall lobbies, Greek Townhouses, BGSU Dining Markets, and the Bowen-Thompson Student Union lobby starting April 15 through the close of the Res Halls on May 2! Wild Northwest Ohio: Art and Awareness Exhibit

A Regional Art Exhibition Inspired by Nature Wild Northwest Ohio brings together three artists whose work explores the ecosystems, wildlife and changing landscapes of Northwest Ohio. Through photography, mixed-media painting and printmaking, the exhibition highlights the beauty and fragility of the region’s natural world while asking viewers to consider their role in environmental stewardship. This exhibition is ideal for those interested in environmental art, conservation, climate awareness, native species and regional artists. Featured Artists Lee Fearnside, photographer Fearnside documents Northwest Ohio’s wildlife areas and landscapes shaped by human activity. Her photography examines how development, agriculture and everyday choices affect fragile ecosystems. Barbara WF Miner, mixed-media painter Drawing from daily walks in local fields and forests, Miner creates layered works built through stencil, pattern and color. Her paintings evoke complex biomes and explore the deep interconnection between humans and the environments they inhabit. Kathy McGhee, printmaker McGhee approaches nature through close observation. Using animals, landscapes and symbolic objects, her prints prompt reflection on how we perceive and internalize the natural world. "Spring Into Color" Contest

Did you know that coloring helps reduce stress by calming the brain and activating different parts of the cerebal hemispheres, leading to a meditative and mindful state?  This can help decrease anxiety, lower heart rate and respiration, improve sleep, and reduce physical tension. It provides a low-pressure, screen-free activity that distracts from worries, stimulates creativity, and is an inexpensive way to relax.  The Office of Campus Engagement and Student Life at BGSU Firelands invites all Falcons to celebrate the new season with our "spring into color" coloring contest during our destress fest inititatives. Whether you’re an aspiring Picasso or just looking for a creative way to de-stress between classes, we want to see your masterpiece!   BGSU Firelands Student Coloring Contest Guidelines 1. All artists must be currently enrolled BGSU Firelands students. 2. All artists must color the same picture (provided by Campus Engagement and Student Life.) 3. Artists may pick up their coloring picture or pick up between April 20 - April 24 in Falcon Square, North Mon-Fri between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Can't make it to campus? No problem! If you need a digital copy of the coloring sheet sent to you, just email fireactivities@bgsu.edu and we will send one right to your inbox. 4. All completed entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 24 and returned to Campus Engagement and Student Life, GMH 135, Mon-Fri between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. 5. Each artist can submit a total of one entry. 6. Pictures must be colored with crayons, colored pencils, or markers. (Art supplies can be made available to you by visiting Campus Engagement and Student Life, GMH 135.) 7. Entries will be reviewed, and a winner’s will be announced on Monday, April 27  8. Entries will be judged on creativity, coloring skill, and overall appeal. 9. One winning artist will be contacted via their BGSU email address as soon as the judges reach a decision. One will will receive two Cinemark theatre gift cards.

Your flowers will be added to our display wall in front of Campus Engagement and Student Life, GMH 135, to create a vibrant tapestry of shared growth and motivation. Let's bloom together! DeStress with Upper Body Chair Massages

Join Tammy Schleenbaker from Integrative Massotherapy for a FREE 8-minute, upper body chair massage today from 11a-1p for currently enrolled BGSU Firelands students. A sign-up sheet will be available in Falcon Square, North, on April 21 to book your appointment. Please arrive early to ensure you can receive your full time.   If under the age of 18, a parent or guardian will need to complete a liability waiver, which will be available at the event.
