Wed, Jan 21, 2026 12pm to 1pm

Jerome Library, Pallister Conference Room (150)

Join the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for a discussion of Aubrey Gordon's "You Just Need to Lost Weight" and 19 Other Myths About Fat People.  In “You Just Need to Lose Weight,” Aubrey Gordon equips readers with the facts and figures to reframe myths about fatness in order to dismantle the anti-fat bias ingrained in how we think about and treat fat people. Bringing her dozen years of community organizing and training to bear, Gordon shares the rhetorical approaches she and other organizers employ to not only counter these pernicious myths, but to dismantle the anti-fat bias that so often underpin them. Book Discussion Facilitator: Laura Sheets, instruction services librarian, University Libraries All are welcome! To RSVP, please email aauwbg@gmail.com. A Zoom link will be available for virtual attendance. Please notify us prior to the event if you need special services, assistance or appropriate modifications to fully participate.
