Library Offers Extended Hours

Jerome Library

Need extra time to work on papers and exams? Have your own special spot in the library where you like to study? Need access to books and other library resources? University Libraries extends its hours of operation (24-5 Sunday through Thursday) beginning Friday, Nov. 30 to provide a safe and comfortable research and study environment free of disruption for our students, staff, and faculty. Important reminder:   Library patrons will have access to the 1st, 2nd, 7th and 8th floors throughout the night.  The Wm. T. Jerome Library offers more than 200 computers, quiet study space throughout the building, and a variety of collaborative group study locations. Lost Dreams, Lost Hopes, Lost Loves, Lost Lives Quilt Exhibition

Immigrant Ohio 2018 presents "Lost Dreams, Lost Hopes, Lost Loves, Lost Lives," an exhibition of quilts made by the Migrant Quilt Project of Tucson, Arizona. The quilts are on display at the Ray and Pat Browne Popular Culture Library, 4th floor of the William T. Jerome Library. The exhibition, open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., is free and open to the public. The exhibition is sponsored by the Stoddard O'Neill Fund, School of Cultural and Critical Studies. Two representatives from The Migrant Quilt Project, Tucson, Arizona, will present public talks as follows: Tuesday, Nov. 13 228 Bowen-Thompson Student Union 4:00 p.m.       "Dispatches from the Desert and The Immigration Equation" - Presented by Judy Ipsen 4:30 p.m.      "Migrant Quilt Project History and Practice" - Presented by Peggy Hazard Wednesday, Nov. 14 Pallister Conference Room, 1st floor, Jerome Library 2:30 p.m. "Criminalizing Migration in the Tucson Sector" - Presented by Judy Ipsen "What the Eye Doesn't See Doesn't Move the Heart: Migrant Quilts of the Arizona Borderlands" - Presented by Peggy Hazard

Connecting Learning Expectations with Assessment Workshop

In this workshop, participants will identify strategies for how to connect what they want students to know with how they plan on assessing them. There will be active discussion on best practices for creating a clear statement on course expectations, as well as preparing a schedule and method of assessments. The Inclusive Leadership Certificate (ILC), offered by the Center for Leadership and the Office of Multicultural Affairs, is a foundational program that will help you develop the attitudes, knowledge, and skills for inclusive leadership in an increasingly diverse world. Employers are looking for leaders who value & develop inclusive leadership skills. This is a perfect way to incorporate that competency into your leadership toolkit, meet people who share your interests, and contribute to making BGSU a more inclusive community. These sessions are foundational and aimed at providing introductory context to the multiple aspects of being an inclusive leader. All voices, experiences, and perspectives are appreciated and welcome in our conversations.

Student Leadership Assistants (SLAs)  are peer educators who specialize in developing curriculum, workshops, and retreats on various leadership skills and abilities. At this informational session, participants will hear from current SLAs about their role in the development of their peers and their experiences as SLAs. In addition, participants will learn about the SLA application process for 2019-2020 team.
