Diamante Awards Program

Fri, Sep 21, 2018 6pm

Owens Community College, Center for Fine and Performing Arts Building

To celebrate the profound and lasting influence that Latinos have on American history, values and culture, the Diamante (diamond in Spanish) Awards were founded in 1989 by IMAGE of Northwest Ohio, a local Latino advocacy group. The diamante is one of the strongest stones, and our award recipients are pillars of strength in times of challenge and triumph. The diamante is a cut above the rest of the valuable stones, as are these individuals through their lifelong commitment and dedication. Diamante recipients have a sparkle and brilliance that is captured in their day-to-day work and encounters with others whose lives they impact. We celebrate our 2018 Diamante recipients as they become members of this very special group of people.

Together We Ball

Fri, Sep 21, 2018 6pm to 8pm

Perry Field House

Free to attend
In 2016, Multicultural Affairs partnered with Campus Police to play a friendly basketball tournament designed to buiid a bridge between communities of color and local law enforcement. The success of this event prompted the expansion of the program this year to include a kickball tournament, which will provide more interaction between the groups and an opportunity to include those who don't play basketball. We encourage spectators to attend and to cheer on the teams, enjoy the music provided by DJ Silk and win BGSU swag! Our partners include BGSU Police, Bowling Green Police Department, Recreatiion & Wellness, Coca Cola and student organizations. For more inforation call OMA at 419-372-2642.
