Learning Community Room Selection Takes Place

NEW & TRANSFER STUDENTS | New learning community members select their on-campus room during this time. New students will only be able to select their room if they have completed the following: Online housing application Paid the $200 initial housing payment  Applied and accepted into their community of choice Room selection will begin after noon on March 18 and will close at 9 a.m. on May 1. If a student is a member of a community that does not require them to live in a learning community room, and the student decides they do not want to live with their community, they would follow the standard room selection process. ONLY learning community rooms will be available during this time. There are two different room selection processes that take place for learning community rooms.   Lifeguard Training The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses. Free Adult Learn to Swim Lesson

April is adult learn to swim month! BGSU Recreation and Wellness is partnering with the BGSC Masters Swimming Club who received a grant from USMS to teach free adult swim lessons. The event includes information sessions, swim demonstrations, and a free trial lesson with certified adult learn to swim instructors. Admission to the SRC is discounted at a rate of $5 per person for this event, and the lessons are FREE. School of Art BFA Senior Thesis Exhibition

Fine Arts Center, Dorothy Uber Bryan and Willard Wankelman Galleries

Each spring, the senior Bachelor of Fine Arts students in the School of Art have the opportunity to showcase their senior thesis work at this premier exhibition. These consummate works of the students - ranging from metals, sculpture, ceramics, and painting to glass, digital art and graphic design - fil the gallery spaces in the Fine Arts Center for a two-week show. March 30, the opening night, offers a panel of artists in various fields who will present 'Where Next? The Future of Art" at 4 p.m., a video animation screening (204 Fine Arts Center) at 5 p.m., an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. in the Galleries, and the awards presentation at 5:45 p.m. This year a special collaboration between the School of Art and the Creative Writing Program will be featured from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 12 in the Bryan Gallery. Creative Writing BFA senior will read two of their pieces, including an ekphrastic piece that vividly describes a visual work of art by one of the senior BFA art seniors.  Admission is free to the exhibition and special events.

Public Skate sessions are open to general public.  When planning a Public Skating outing, plan to arrive early to avoid a possible wait in line. Participants are expected to obey posted rules and skate guards at all times.  Skate rentals are availble for those who need skates.  Please always check the Public Skate schedule as days and times are subject to change.
