Each spring, the senior Bachelor of Fine Arts students in the School of Art have the opportunity to showcase their senior thesis work at this premier exhibition. These consummate works of the students - ranging from metals, sculpture, ceramics, and painting to glass, digital art and graphic design - fil the gallery spaces in the Fine Arts Center for a two-week show. March 30, the opening night, offers a panel of artists in various fields who will present 'Where Next? The Future of Art" at 4 p.m., a video animation screening (204 Fine Arts Center) at 5 p.m., an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. in the Galleries, and the awards presentation at 5:45 p.m. This year a special collaboration between the School of Art and the Creative Writing Program will be featured from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 12 in the Bryan Gallery. Creative Writing BFA senior will read two of their pieces, including an ekphrastic piece that vividly describes a visual work of art by one of the senior BFA art seniors.  Admission is free to the exhibition and special events.

BGSU’s Active Learning Classrooms (ALC) are specially designed spaces that bring together pedagogy, design elements, and technology to help faculty fully engage students in the pursuit of learning. In order to help faculty make the best use of these classrooms, the CFE is pleased to present an ALC Certificate. By earning the ALC Certificate, faculty members earn the right to have priority in reserving one of the active learning classrooms over those who have not done so once they complete this 2 Part Training. Please note that earning an ALC Certificate does not guarantee that an ALC classroom will be made available. ALC Part 1 will focus on active learning strategies and discuss how those strategies can be put to use in their classes.

On September 28, 2018, in Washington, DC, Ana Maria Archila made national headlines as one of two women, both survivors of sexual violence, who confronted U.S. Senator Jeff Flake in an elevator as he was getting ready to support the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.  “What are you doing, sir?  This is the future of our country!” she said.  What Are You Doing, Sir?  This is the Future of Our Country!, describing Archila’s experiences, will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., in Room 1001 A-D of the Center Point Center at Bowling Green State University Firelands. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The moment in which Archila confronted Senator Flake in the elevator was decades in the making.  Archila had never told her father she was sexually abused as a child.  On the day of her confrontation with Sen. Flake — with the video going viral — she shared her story with him. Archila, Co-Executive Director of the Center for Popular Democracy, is a national voice for racial and economic justice, immigrant rights and building people power in order to transform our country into one in which we can all live with dignity.  A 39-year old native of Colombia, Archila believes that when “regular” people take action, especially when they take action together, they can change this country.
