The Toledo Ohio Renaissance - Symposium

The symposium, from 1 to 3 p.m. May 8 in 1101 Fine Arts Center, will feature a keynote lecture by Dr. Ted Ligabel, professor and director emeritus of Eastern Michigan University’s Historic Preservation Program, and research presentations by the students about Toledo’s “Renaissance” monuments. A reception and the opening of the exhibition in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery lobby will immediately follow the presentations.

#PhDone and #MAstered: How to Plan, Write, and Complete Your Dissertation or Thesis

  In this Brown Bag Workshop, facilitators Dr. Kristin LaFollette and Dr. Lauren Salisbury will discuss their process for planning and writing their dissertation research projects at each stage: prelims, prospectus talk, IRB and research, writing, and the defense. We will talk about how to approach the writing process with flexibility and how to address writer’s block, institutional roadblocks, and research setbacks. The workshop will conclude with a Q&A when participants can address questions and concerns and plan or revise their thesis or dissertation timeline. While some content will specifically address procedures for Rhetoric & Writing PhD students, master’s students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Global Leadership Certificate Session Seven: Final Reflections

The Global Leadership Certificate (GLC), offered by the C. Raymond Marvin Center for Leadership, is a program design to help develop your tools and skills to lead and communicate effectively on a global scale with people from a variety of cultures and experiences. As our society becomes increasingly globalized the importance of becoming a global citizen and leader becomes more relevant. The GLC workshops incorporate our global citizenship competency into your leadership toolkit. Session Seven provides opportunities for participants to reflect all that was learned during the Global Leadership Certificate.  Moreover, participants will discuss how to put their leadership skills in action.
