Choose a day between April 1 and April 30 to go for a run/walk or take your dog for a walk, while practicing social distancing. Be sure to document this activity with a photo or video posted to social media with the hashtags #BGSUSAAM2020 and #BGSUVirtual. Virtual Sexual Assault Awareness Month 5k and Dog Walk

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it.  Each year, Recreation and Wellness and the Center for Violence Prevention and Education sponsor the SAAM 5k and Dog Walk. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are unable to hold the race as planned this year, but would like to encourage the campus community to take part in supporting SAAM by doing your own 5k or Dog Walk.  How to participate: 1. Choose a day between April 1 and April 30 to go for either a 5k run/walk or take your dog for a walk. 2. Practice social distancing while completing this activity. 3. Document your activity: Take a photo/video Post photo/video and include the hashtags #BGSUSAAM2020 and #BGSUVirtual Optional: Caption your photo with a fact or statement about sexual violence and bring awareness to this important issue 4. Encourage additional friends/family to join this movement and get involved!

Active Learning Classroom Technologies Part 2

BGSU’s Active Learning Classrooms (ALC) are specially designed spaces that bring together pedagogy, design elements, and technology to help faculty fully engage students in the pursuit of learning. In order to help faculty make the best use of these classrooms, the CFE is pleased to present an ALC Certificate after completing the 2 part series. Part 2 will demonstrate the ALC technology in the classroom as well as holding discussions on how to meaningfully integrate the technologies and strategies. Please note that the ALC Strategies Part 1 is a prerequisite to ALC Technologies Part 2.

In the training, participants learn how to contribute to a caring community, how to identify the warning signs of people who may be struggling, and how to help (including suicide prevention strategies). This training is part of a campus wide initiative to create a Community of Care at BGSU and ensure that our students not struggle alone. Miss Phi Beta Sigma (Miss PBS) is an annual scholarship pageant that we put on Nationally throughout our organization as well as on this campus. This pageant is meant as a way to help young ladies get out of their comfort zone, showcase their talents, as well as give them an opportunity to compete for a scholarship to help with expenses that are school related. We give scholarship money to the first, second, and third place winners and the scholarship amounts will be determined later.
