Find out how you can recycle correctly and often, and do your part to reduce waste! Join the Center for Women and Gender Equity, Center for Violence Prevention and Education, and the Wellness Connection for our Virtual 5k and Dog Walk for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Choose a day between April 1 and April 30 to go for a run/walk or take your dog for a walk, while practicing social distancing. Be sure to document this activity with a photo or video posted to social media with the hashtags #BGSUSAAM2020 and #BGSUVirtual. Virtual Sexual Assault Awareness Month 5k and Dog Walk

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it.  Each year, Recreation and Wellness and the Center for Violence Prevention and Education sponsor the SAAM 5k and Dog Walk. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are unable to hold the race as planned this year, but would like to encourage the campus community to take part in supporting SAAM by doing your own 5k or Dog Walk.  How to participate: 1. Choose a day between April 1 and April 30 to go for either a 5k run/walk or take your dog for a walk. 2. Practice social distancing while completing this activity. 3. Document your activity: Take a photo/video Post photo/video and include the hashtags #BGSUSAAM2020 and #BGSUVirtual Optional: Caption your photo with a fact or statement about sexual violence and bring awareness to this important issue 4. Encourage additional friends/family to join this movement and get involved!

This organization exists to increase awareness of relationship violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sexual harassment, and how to prevent it.  Formed in 2014, the group assists with and coordinates events such as The Clothesline Project, a Sexual Assault Awareness 5K and Dog Walk, and numerous other outreach activities and partnerships with campus organizations and community members. CANCELED—World of Translation Speaker Series: Dr. Diane Rayor

This event is canceled due to the University’s proactive response efforts to slow down the spread of the novel coronavirus.   Dr. Diane Rayor, professor of Classics at Grand Valley State University will present a translation workshop and a reading as part of the World of Translation Speaker Series hosted by BGSU World Languages and Cultures. The translation workshop will be held from 4-5:15 p.m. April 30. She will present a reading,  "Sappho: A New Translation of the Complete Works,"  later that night at 7 p.m.

Pallister French-Canadian Lecture Series

As a part of The International Studies Program's International Film Festival 2020: Insider/Outsider, the Pallister French-Canadian Lecture Series presents Une colonie, A Colony. A timid 12-year-old girl is about to leave her native countryside to begin high school. She becomes lost in the hostile environment, and along the way, she encounters a young indigenous outsider who helps her embrace herself.  Introduction by Dr. Beatrice Guenther, International Studies and World Cultures and Languages (French). Distinguished Pallister speaker, the film's director, Genevieve Dulude-De Celles, will present her film and participate in a Q&A with campus and community members. A reception will follow the event.
