Join us for Business Day and explore the opportunities waiting for you in the Schmidthorst College of Business.  Ranked among the top business programs by  U.S. News and World Report, the Princeton Review and Bloomberg Businessweek, the Schmidthorst College of Business (SCoB) is where careers begin. It's more than rankings: it's how, and what, our students learn. During this event, you'll connect with faculty and current students to learn all about cutting-edge research, real-world business skills, scholarship opportunities and interactive learning programs and internships.  Here's what you can expect at our event: Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union.  Connect with areas like Admissions, Residence Life and Financial Aid in our exhibitor area before the formal program begins at 9:30 a.m. Need to apply to BGSU? Submit your application during your visit, and we'll waive the $45 application fee! The formal program will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome from the Dean of the Schmidthorst College of Business. Then, you'll head to a variety of breakout sessions, where you'll learn more about our majors and specializations, career opportunities, scholarships, internships, getting involved as a SCoB student, and more. You'll also attend a mock class hosted by one of our esteemed SCoB faculty.  Lunch will be provided after the breakout sessions, around 12:15 p.m. BGSU faculty, staff and students will join for lunch, and they're eager to answer questions and share their BGSU stories. After lunch, you're invited to Dessert with the Dean, an open house at the Maurer Center Hosted at the Maurer Center, home of the Schmidthorst College of Business, this is your opportunity to tour our state-of-the-art classrooms and spaces, connect with SCoB faculty and current students and enjoy coffee or dessert. If this is your first visit to campus, you might be interested in a full campus tour, too.  When registering, you can add a full campus tour to your visit. This will be a 90-minute campus tour which will depart at the end of the event, around 1 p.m. This campus tour will ended at the Maurer Center, so you can enjoy the Dessert with the Dean open house, too.  We're excited to host you on campus!

The Grief and Loss Support Group meets weekly during the semester for an hour and half on Mondays from 1 - 2:30 p.m. and is open to all BGSU students. This group is designed to be a safe space to express and process any feelings or experiences of grief and loss in one’s life. Grief is a natural reaction to loss or change. Grief is most often discussed in relation to the death of a loved one, however grief can be experienced following any major change. While the group meets weekly, it is a drop-in group, meaning that students can attend as their schedule permits.

While the group meets weekly, it is a drop-in group meaning that students can attend as their schedule permits. The Counseling Center welcomes all students. We aspire to respect cultural, individual and role differences. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive and affirming climate for individuals of all races, ethnicities, national origins, genders, gender identities, sexual/affectional orientations, religions, ages, abilities, sizes, socioeconomic statuses, languages and cultures.

Master Class: Arthur Greene, pianist

Pianist Arthur Greene will present a Master class to BGSU piano students. This event is free and open to the public. PROGRAM TBA Born in New York, Arthur Greene studied at Juilliard with Martin Canin, and received a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a doctorate from Stony Brook. Greene was a Gold Medal winner in the William Kapell and Gina Bachauer International Piano Competitions, and a top laureate at the Busoni International Competition. He performed the complete solo piano works of Johannes Brahms in a series of six programs in Boston and recorded the Complete Etudes of Alexander Scriabin for Supraphon. Greene has performed the 10 Sonata Cycle of Alexander Scriabin in many important international venues, including multi-media presentations with Symbolist artworks. He has made many recordings together with his wife, the violinist Solomia Soroka, for Naxos and Toccata Classics, including the Violin-Piano Sonatas of William Bolcom. Greene recently recorded the Concord Sonata of Charles Ives, available for free high-resolution download on his homepage. Greene has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco, Utah, and National Symphonies, the Czech National Symphony, the Tokyo Symphony, and many others. He has played recitals in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Moscow Rachmaninov Hall, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Lisbon Sao Paulo Opera House, Hong Kong City Hall, and concert houses in Shanghai and Beijing. He toured Japan and Korea many times. He was an Artistic Ambassador to Serbia, Kosovo, and Bosnia for the United States Information Agency. Greene has been on the faculty at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance since 1990. He has won the Harold Haugh Award for Excellence in studio teaching. His current and former students include prizewinners in international competitions, and his former students hold important teaching posts throughout the United States. He is a frequent judge at international competitions, including the Gilels Competition in Odessa and the Isangyun Competition in Tongyeong, South Korea.

Body Image Support Group meets weekly during the semester for an hour and a half on a designated day and time. Body Image Support Group is run by two members of the Counseling Center and has a maximum of eight students. In the group, students are educated on and discuss topics like building a healthy body image, how beauty is portrayed in media and on social media, etc. This group is not appropriate for those who have any type of eating disorder. Students can request to join the group at the beginning of each semester when they present for an initial appointment or may be referred to the group depending on their presenting concern(s). The Counseling Center welcomes all students. We aspire to respect cultural, individual and role differences. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive and affirming climate for individuals of all races, ethnicities, national origins, genders, gender identities, sexual/affectional orientations, religions, ages, abilities, sizes, socioeconomic statuses, languages and cultures.

Expanding Your Mindfulness Practice (In-Person)

Participants gain skills in stress and anxiety management, handling difficult situations, building self-compassion and a nonjudgmental attitude, and improving focus and memory.
