BG Should Run

Wed, Oct 4, 2023 5pm

Juniper Brewing Company, Coffee Bar

The Center for Women and Gender Equity is hosting BG Should Run, a community-wide event that encourages people to become more civically and politically engaged. BG Should Run aims to demystify politics and provide participants with concrete ways they can get involved in local or national government, whether that is running for office or volunteering their time for a campaign they support. We know that many Ohioans may not see themselves as “political” and choose not to participate in elections or get involved in politics in their community. BG Should Run's objective is to change this perception and to encourage members of the Bowling Green community to view the personal as political by voting, getting engaged and considering running for something themselves. Join us to hear from local and state-wide groups, including Matriots, a non-partisan political action committee that supports Ohio women candidates, about the importance of getting involved and steps people can take to run for office. By encouraging more women and community members to get involved in their local government, we can increase the number of women in elected office and make positive change for the public good.  To individuals with disabilities, please indicate if you need special services, assistance or appropriate modifications to fully participate in this event by contacting Accessibility Services at access@bgsu.edu or 419-372-8495. Please notify us prior to the event.
