During Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in September, take our #BeThe1To challenge!  Visit https://www.bgsu.edu/counseling-center/services/BeThe1To.html watch the five videos, and take a short evaluation based on information in the videos here.  BGSU students, faculty, and staff who complete the evaluation will be entered into a raffle to win 2023's Counseling Center t-shirt designed by a BGSU student! 10 shirts will be raffled off in October.

National Voter Registration Day

This event serves as a vital reminder of the importance of democratic participation and exercising your right to vote. Curriculog is integrated with our academic catalogs and other key university systems to allow for a more streamlined, transparent, and traceable process. Attend to learn about the new application and ask questions to the Curriculog Project Team.  These training sessions are separated by colleges and support offices. Additional training will be available throughout the academic year.

Mental Health School Supplies

Registration coming soon! Just like our academic school supplies, we need a variety of mental health “school supplies” to succeed in college, such as belonging, self-care, and self-compassion. In each session the “supply” will be defined, and conversations will focus on identifying barriers and solutions to help students prioritize their mental well-being during the transition to college. Join other students in this welcoming and non-judgmental space, fostering open and honest conversations on the challenges and successes of starting college. Let's Talk is a free and confidential service available to BGSU students. Students can meet for a brief, informal, 15 minute consultation with BGSU Counseling Center staff that do not take the place of therapy. Let's Talk consultations are not appropriate for urgent concerns or mental health emergencies. During this consultation, BGSU clinicians will listen to your concerns, offer support, information and resources.

The Sustainability Leadership Certificate (SLC) is a foundational program to help students learn how to integrate sustainability into their own leadership style.  This certificate, created by the C. Raymond Marvin Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement and the Office of Campus Sustainability, will help participants develop an understanding of basic sustainability concepts and methods to lead sustainably in group settings and in your community.  Additionally, participants will learn about how to advocate for sustainability and how to become an active citizen in society. Screen-Play – Staged Readings of Screenplays by Sophia Encina and Seraiah Proctor

  Screen-Play features two informal staged readings plus Q & A with the authors, the audience and the readers. The conversations will consider the authors’ aesthetic vision and choices about story structure, characterization, tone and dialogue as well as the project’s potential translation into production.   Long Distance by Seraiah Proctor A young woman moves across the country to live with her long-distance boyfriend of three years. Tensions rise as this seemingly rock-solid couple realizes that maintaining an online relationship and living together in real life are two very different things. Seraiah Proctor is a BGSU alumna and writer who strives to tell diverse and meaningful stories through her screenplays, short stories and novel-length works.   The Goons: End of a Beginning by Sophia Encina Set in a bohemian urban environment, the screenplay illuminates the challenges of communication in a relationship and the fear that surrounds verbalizing a commitment to someone. Sophia Encina is senior who is majoring in film production and minoring in both Japanese and media production. ------------------------ Weeks of Welcome Aug. 15-Oct. 2 | This event is part of  Weeks of Welcome, which begins at Move-In and extends through Fall Break.
