During Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in September, take our #BeThe1To challenge!  Visit https://www.bgsu.edu/counseling-center/services/BeThe1To.html watch the five videos, and take a short evaluation based on information in the videos here.  BGSU students, faculty, and staff who complete the evaluation will be entered into a raffle to win 2023's Counseling Center t-shirt designed by a BGSU student! 10 shirts will be raffled off in October.

Get excited for the Fall 2023 Weeks of Welcome, which begins at move-in and extends through Fall Break.  During this celebration, explore opportunities hosted by the campus community that will help you embrace the adventure of creating your ultimate BGSU experience. New Students - There will be a series of required programming that you need to attend between Aug. 17-20.  New and Returning Students - There will be hundreds of events hosted for ALL students throughout Weeks of Welcome that will be kicked off on Aug. 15 and last through Oct. 2. Curriculog Training - Support Offices (Virtual Event)

BGSU uses Curriculog, a curriculum management software, for all curriculum proposals, from course changes to brand-new degree programs. Curriculog is integrated with our academic catalogs and other key university systems to allow for a more streamlined, transparent, and traceable process. Attend to learn about the new application and ask questions to the Curriculog Project Team.  These training sessions are separated by colleges and support offices. Join the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and the Schmidthorst College of Business (SCoB) Committee to Advance Teaching and Learning (CATL) for their September Teaching and Learning Spotlight on Learning Outcomes. Let's Talk is a free and confidential service available to BGSU students. Students can meet for a brief, informal, 15 minute consultation with BGSU Counseling Center staff that do not take the place of therapy. Let's Talk consultations are not appropriate for urgent concerns or mental health emergencies. During this consultation, BGSU clinicians will listen to your concerns, offer support, information and resources.

Rear Adm. June E. Ryan, USCG (Ret.) '84 will deliver a public talk on "Successfully Navigating Challenges and Storms." This dynamic speaking engagement embraces themes of leadership, perserverence and grit and will inspire all audiences. Thursday, Sept. 21 2:30 p.m. Bowen-Thompson Student Union, Theater (Room 206) The event is free and open to public. No registration required. Ryan is one of the 2023 inductees in the BGSU Academy of Distinguished Alumni, the University's highest honor. Ryan, the first enlisted woman in the Coast Guard to rise to the rank of Rear Admiral, is an in-demand motivational speaker, seminar leader and corporate trainer. Ryan draws on her 35 years of military service as she leads and develops workforces across the country and around the world.

Prizes will be awarded for speed, spirit and style. The top team will receive a $25 gift card to Amazon for each member! The University is proud to honor those alumni who have inspired their country, state, community and BGSU.  Join us on Thursday, Sept. 21, as we induct our 2023 honorees as part of an exciting evening that kicks off a memorable Homecoming weekend.
