CPR/AED, First Aid and Lifeguaring Course Registration

Certification Training courses are offered to students, faculty/staff, and community members and are conducted by American Red Cross certified instructors. Participants must be at least 15 years old. Lifeguarding Blended Course The American Red Cross blended learning lifeguarding course prepares you to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies in and around the water. The eLearning portion of this class is scenario based and introduces you to the skills that yare practiced and mastered during the in-person skill sessions. Allow approximately 7 hours to complete the eLearning portion, including the final eLearning exam. All participants must complete the eLearning portion and present proof of completion to enter the in-person skill sessions at the Student Recreation Center. Course Prerequisites: 300 yard swim, 2 minute water tread, and brick test. (Goggles may be used for the 300 yard swim, but not for the brick test) The American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is valid for 2 years. Pocket mask is included with the course. Women must wear a one-piece suit, and men must wear draw string swim trunks. October 7 and October 8: 10 AM - 6 PM | Must attend both sessions for certification. SRC Conference Room and Pools   Cost:  BGSU Student or SRC Member: $275 Non-Member: $350 Lifeguard Review Course October 13: 8 AM - 4 PM SRC Conference Room and Pools Cost: BGSU Student or SRC Member: $129.00 Non-Member: $149.00 First Aid and CPR Blended Course This is a blended learning course featuring online 2 simulation learnings, which combines web-based learning with an in-class skills session to help prepare you to respond to real-life emergencies. The online portions may take around 3-4 hours to complete and must be completed before the in-class session. Participants must bring a printed out certificate of completion of both online portions in order to be admitted to the in-class session of the class. Friday, September 6: 4 - 8 PM Sunday, October 13: 8 AM - Noon Cost: BGSU Student or SRC Member: $99 Non-Member: $119 Registration and payment must be completed by the Monday before the class begins. Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment. Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is a governing body that oversees multicultural or culturally-based fraternities and sororities on college and university campuses. The MGC organizations at BGSU include Omega Phi Alpha and Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. If you are interested in joining one of these organizations, fill out the intent to join form to receive more information. At Bowling Green State University, the Multicultural Greek Council is a place for our organizations with a spotlight on equality, diversity, and progress to gather and lead the efforts for the campus. These organizations promote the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants and refugees, LatinX and Hispanic populations, and many more. Together, they provide hands-on service to these causes and bring education to our fraternity and sorority community about pressing issues and crises.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is a collaborative organization composed of nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations (BGLOs) or sororities and fraternities. NPHC was founded in 1930 at Howard University in Washington, D.C., with the purpose of fostering unity and cooperation among its member organizations and advocating for the interests of Black college students. To learn more about NPHC, fill out the intent to join form.  The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is an umbrella organization for nine historically black, inter/national Greek-lettered organizations that evolved during a period when African-Americans were being denied essential rights and privileges afforded to other college students. Today, the primary purpose and focus of member organizations remains community awareness and action through educational, economic, and cultural service activities. The individual member is also expected to align with a graduate and/or alumni chapter, following graduation from college to perpetuate the purpose of the council and their individual organizations.

New Quizzes is an updated assessment engine that integrates with Canvas and replaces the Classic Quizzes functionality. You will explore new question types such as Categorization, Ordering, and Hot Spots as well as discuss how to manage item banks. You will have an opportunity to create questions in an item bank in one of your Canvas courses and utilize the item bank in a quiz.  In this session, you will:  Identify question types.   Explore what the student sees when taking a quiz.   Discuss how to moderate exams for accessibility.   Create and utilize a New Quiz item bank.   To register for this event, use the Fall 2024 CFE-Facilitated Session Registration Form.  Advance registration is required. "Let's Talk" - Free drop-in counseling consultations

"Let's Talk" is a free and confidential service available to all BGSU students. Students can meet for a brief, informal, 15-minute consultation with BGSU Counseling Center staff. They can listen to specific problems, help explore solutions and introduce you to what it’s like to speak with a member of the staff.  Please note: "Let's Talk" does not take the place of therapy, and consultations are not appropriate for urgent concerns or mental health emergencies. Unmasked: Neurodivergent Support Group

Unmasked is a support group for neurodivergent students. Neurodivergent is a term used to describe anyone whose mind functions in ways that differ from societal standards of "normal." Some examples include Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and mental illnesses. Formal diagnosis is not required to participate. Those who are questioning a neurodivergent identity are welcome. This group aims to provide students with a place to share their struggles, give and receive support from others, and discuss their lived experiences without having to mask who they are. Each session will start with check-ins and introductions. Students can then ask for time to discuss a challenge they are experiencing or a topic they wish to explore with others.
