Summer Recreation Youth Programming Registration

Youth Climbing Camp Master the fundamentals of climbing on the Student Recreation Center 35-foot indoor climbing wall. Learn footwork, hand placement, and body control to improve overall climbing Gain communication skills through group and partner climbing activities Overcome physical and mental obstacles on the climbing wall Promote safety awareness through proper equipment use, techniques, and communication protocols Teambuilding, games and snack included Session I: Monday - Thursday, June 10 - 14 | 9 AM - Noon Session II: Monday - Thursday, July 22 - 25 | 9 AM - Noon Registration Fee: $99 | Ages 7 - 12 Junior Lifeguard Camp Learn the basic knowledge and skills required to participate in the American Red Cross Lifeguard course when at age 15+. Learn swim skills and practice in-water rescues Communication, teamwork, and decision-making Introduction to First Aid, CPR, and AED Instructed by American Red Cross lifeguard instructor Monday - Wednesday, June 3 - 5 | 8 AM Noon Registration Fee: $99 | Ages 11 - 14 Water Mania Beat the heat during the hot summer months by spending a day full of fun aquatic themed programming at the Rec! Structured programs led by RecWell staff Make a splash in Cooper Pool using the inflatable obstacle course, diving boards, water basketball, and pool toys Learn water safety skills and swim stroke technique Create a water themed craft to take home Compete in water themed field day games in the courtyard. IGNITE STEM Summer Camp

The Ignite STEM Camp is a week long day camp at BGSU where students will engage in fun-filled experiences about teamwork, problem solving and the connections between science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the real world. Farm 2 Fork Summer Camp

Do you ever wonder where food comes from? Do you want to know more about the journey from farm to fork? In this camp, children explore the route food takes from the farm to the table and how food is used to fuel their bodies. At Farm 2 Fork, campers will be exposed to local foodways and increase their knowledge of farming and cooking! Slater Family Ice Arena

Looking for some fun on ice? Get out of the heat and go ice skating! Bring your family and friends to the Slater Family Ice Arena for some frozen fun. Public Skate and Cheap Skate sessions are open to the public. Online registration required. Skate rental available for those in need.  *Please note, the Slater Family Ice Arena is under construction throughout the 2024 summer season. Facility entry points may change frequently. Please always check the ice schedule or call 419-372-2264 before attending to confirm ice times. For more details related to construction, please visit the Ice Arena website. Our lives are governed by cosmic cycles – from cycles of day and night, to cycles of the Moon and days of the week and motions of the Sun across the sky over the cycle of a year. Join friendly robots Tortoise and Hare as they explore these cycles of time along with longer geological time cycles and deep time. Join us on for this full dome video show about cycles of time.

Join us at a one-hour Records Management overview workshop to learn: Which records to keep and how long to keep them Options for storing and disposing of records How to create, update and apply BGSU records retention schedules How to manage electronic records Why your role within the BGSU records management program is important How proper records management improves individual and office performance

Planetarium Show: Throwback Thursday – SKY STONES

This show, created by Dr. Dale Smith for the BGSU Planetarium takes viewers on an interpretive trip to Stonehenge, the pyramids of Egypt, the temples of the Maya and several native American sites. Discover the legacy of ancient skywatchers who recorded the movement of the Sun, Moon, planets and stars in their great stone monuments. This show premiered as a public show in 1991.  Stargazing will follow the show if skies are clear.
