Equine Group Therapy - FREE for all BGSU students!

The Counseling Center is combining group therapy with the healing touch of horses – in partnership with Project H.O.P.E.  Have you ever wanted to work with horses or miss working with them while you are studying at BGSU? Do you enjoy learning by doing? Are you seeking alternatives to talk therapy? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, this program might be the right fit for you! The Equine Therapy Group is a free opportunity for ALL BGSU STUDENTS! However, space is limited, and a screening appointment with the Counseling Center must be completed prior to the program start date to participate. What you need to know: Three groups made up of 6 students each will meet for this 6-week program at an off-campus location in the city of Bowling Green. Group 1 will meet on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:45 p.m. starting on Sept. 9. Group 2 will meet on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. starting on Sept. 25. Group 3 will meet on Thursdays from 10:30-11:45 a.m. starting on Oct. 17. How to participate: 1. Review all the details on the Equine Group Therapy webpage>> 2. Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is a governing body that oversees multicultural or culturally-based fraternities and sororities on college and university campuses. The MGC organizations at BGSU include Omega Phi Alpha and Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. If you are interested in joining one of these organizations, fill out the intent to join form to receive more information. At Bowling Green State University, the Multicultural Greek Council is a place for our organizations with a spotlight on equality, diversity, and progress to gather and lead the efforts for the campus. These organizations promote the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants and refugees, LatinX and Hispanic populations, and many more. Together, they provide hands-on service to these causes and bring education to our fraternity and sorority community about pressing issues and crises.

Study Nights in the RAD

Need a location to study with your friends? Want to work on a group project? Or just want to be around other students to hold yourself accountable? Take action by coming to study in the Radbill Center on Wednesday nights from 6-8pm. These study sessions will be hosted by Life Design Student Ambassadors who bring fun energy to long study nights! Study Nights in the Rad begin September 11st and continue until December 4th. Snacks will be provided! The Radbill Center, known as the RAD, is a space for all students to find their place on campus. With a coffee (and tea and hot chocolate) station, along with tables and comfortable seating, the RAD is a great place to hang out, study, work on group projects or relax! The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is a collaborative organization composed of nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations (BGLOs) or sororities and fraternities. NPHC was founded in 1930 at Howard University in Washington, D.C., with the purpose of fostering unity and cooperation among its member organizations and advocating for the interests of Black college students. To learn more about NPHC, fill out the intent to join form.  The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is an umbrella organization for nine historically black, inter/national Greek-lettered organizations that evolved during a period when African-Americans were being denied essential rights and privileges afforded to other college students. Today, the primary purpose and focus of member organizations remains community awareness and action through educational, economic, and cultural service activities. The individual member is also expected to align with a graduate and/or alumni chapter, following graduation from college to perpetuate the purpose of the council and their individual organizations.

Early Bird Birding Walk

Join us at Wintergarden Park as we experience the joy of birding. A short 3 miles from BGSU’s Main Campus, Wintergarden Park offers miles of trails that go through prairie meadows and forests. Get outside and enjoy a laid-back walk through the park as we identify bird species that populate this area. The park also holds a Rotary Nature Center, which has a songbird feeding station and a babbling brook. Bring binoculars if you have them! If not, some will be available to share! The address will highlight how Bowling Green State University will continue to move Forward., together, and our collective role in positioning BGSU as a 21st century university for the public good. For those unable to attend the State of the University in person, a livestream of the address will be available. On the Firelands campus, the livestream will be available for viewing in 105 Foundation Hall. Following the address, celebrate Homecoming week with friends and colleagues at the All-Campus Picnic, which gets underway at 11:30 a.m. on the Bowen-Thompson Quadrangle. New Quizzes is an updated assessment engine that integrates with Canvas and replaces the Classic Quizzes functionality. You will explore new question types such as Categorization, Ordering, and Hot Spots as well as discuss how to manage item banks. You will have an opportunity to create questions in an item bank in one of your Canvas courses and utilize the item bank in a quiz.  In this session, you will:  Identify question types.   Explore what the student sees when taking a quiz.   Discuss how to moderate exams for accessibility.   Create and utilize a New Quiz item bank.   To register for this event, use the Fall 2024 CFE-Facilitated Session Registration Form.  Advance registration is required. Join URGE and the CWGE for Green Dot Training. This training is open to all BGSU students, staff, and faculty.A coalition of departments, offices, and community members at BGSU have partnered with the national initiative The Green Dot Strategy to address sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking through bystander education and intervention. The Green Dot strategy aims to shift campus culture and increase proactive preventative behavior by targeting influential members from across a community with basic education, skill practice, and reactive interventions to high-risk situations. Every choice to be proactive as a bystander is categorized as a “new behavior” and thus a “Green Dot.” Individual decisions (green dots) group together to create larger change.
