Leveling Up Your Literature Review: An Introduction to Systematic Reviews

Wed, Oct 29, 2025 10am to 11am

Virtual Event

You’re probably familiar with traditional literature reviews—gathering and synthesizing what’s been written on a topic—but did you know there are different types, each with its own purpose and method? This session focuses on systematic literature reviews, a structured, transparent approach to reviewing research. During this session, you’ll learn about systematic literature review types, focusing on systematic and systematized reviews, and learn the differences between them and other review types. You will explore established guidelines and best practices for conducting systematic reviews and realistic timelines for these projects. You will also be connected to support and resources to help you with each step of the process.   Why you should attend: Recognize the differences between systematic and systematized review types. Identify best practices and steps involved in completing a systematic review. Consider next steps for adapting a systematized review for publication. Establish a realistic timeline for conducting a systematic review. Locate a published review in your field. To register for this event, use the Fall 2025 University Libraries CFE Session Registration Form.  Advance registration is required. Registration will close one business day before the scheduled event. You will receive the Zoom link one day before the event.  For more information on this event, visit the Session Catalog page of the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) website.    If you need special services, assistance or appropriate modifications to fully participate in the event, please contact the CFE office or Accessibility Services at access@bgsu.edu or 419-372-8495.
