FREE Martial Arts Classes

Student Recreation Center, Martial Arts Studio - Classroom #38

Learn taijutsu, a traditional Japanese martial art focused on self-awareness and natural body movement for self-defense. Taijutsu involves unarmed techniques for striking, kicking, blocking, grappling and throwing, traditional weapon techniques, and methods of evasion and escape from dangerous situations.  Who can attend? Open to BGSU students, faculty and staff  All ability levels are welcome Why you should attend Classes are conducted in a supportive environment through which participants can improve their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. How to attend Drop in to join this 6-7:30 p.m. class on Tuesdays between August 26 - December 9. (No class on October 7 or November 11) Class is hosted in the Martial Arts Studio (#38) in the sub-basement at the Student Rec Center Advance registration is not required. Wear comfortable clothing.  About the instructor Instructed by BGSU Chief Well-Being Officer, Ben Batey. Ben is a licensed instructor with over 20 years of experience in the art of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and currently holds the rank of 6th degree black belt. Period Product Drive

Join us for a month-long menstrual product drive to support students on campus by providing free period products. We’re accepting any unopened menstrual products (pads, tampons, liners, etc.) or monetary donations via the QR code. Operation: Keep Our Campus Community Cozy @ BGSU Firelands

Campus Engagement & Student Life is partnering with CCAMPIS, the BGSU Firelands Film Club, the Inclusive Pre-K Education Club, and the Science Club to collect new winter items such as hats, scarves, gloves, and socks (accepting all sizes and gender.) These essentail items will be made available in the Firelands Pantry (First Floor, GMH) and will benefit any faculty, staff, or student in need this winter season.    Winter Drive Collection:  November 3, 2025 - November 20, 2025.   'Pop' over to say hello, drop off your donation, and grab a bag of fresh movie theatre-style popcorn on November 20 from 11am-1pm.
