58th Annual Competitions in Musical Performance: Preliminary Rounds

The 58th annual competitions in musical performance will take place December 3-6, 2025. Preliminary rounds will occur December 3-5 in Kobacker Hall, beginning each day at 9 a.m. The final round of competition will take place December 6 beginning at 10 a.m. in Kobacker. Winners of the competition will be featured soloists with the BG Philharmonia on February 14, 2026.

Three Minute Thesis (3MT)

Graduate students, want to share your research from this year? The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is a great place to hone your presentation and research communication skills while sharing your knowledge in three minutes using a single static PowerPoint slide. You will want to use language that someone who is not in your field will still understand. Register for the 3MT Competition today! The deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 6 (entries received after that date will be considered if space is available). If selected, competitors need to submit their presentation slide by 5 p.m. on Feb. 13. Competition Details The BGSU competition will be held on Feb. 19, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. in the BTSU Theatre (Room 206) and will offer the following prizes: 1st Place: $500 2nd Place: $300 3rd Place: $200 The first-place winner will also be entered into the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) 3MT competition, held on March 27, 2026, in Kansas City, MO. Planetarium Show: THE ALIEN WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS

  Celebrate Christmas with this full-dome video show for all ages.  First, you’ll take a tour of the winter sky.  Then, a mysterious alien spaceship appears.  Is Christmas about to be stolen?  Follow Santa’s hijacked sleigh from planet to planet and back to Earth again in this science fiction twist on a Christmas tale. $2 donation suggested for all planetarium shows. Public stargazing will follow evening shows, weather permitting.
