2025 New Student Housing Giveaway

2025 New Student Housing Giveaway! 25 lucky winners will get to pick a room in the residence hall of their choice before room selection officially begins, for themself AND a roommate of their choice! That's up to 50 winners – and the earlier you sign your housing agreement, the more chances you have to win! ________________________ How to Enter Sign the 2025-26 Housing and Dining Agreement between Jan. 6 through April 30, 2025. You must be a new student admitted to BGSU for the Fall 2025 Semester to qualify. The month you sign your Housing and Dining Agreement determines how many entries you have into the contest. Each month five winners will be selected. Jan. 6-31 = 4 total entries Feb. 1-28 = 3 total entries March 1-31 = 2 total entries April 1-30 = 1 total entry ​​​​​​​This year, an additional 5 students who sign their Housing and Dining Agreement on Jan. 6 will be selected to pick their room before selection! Complete your Housing Agreement TODAY! If you win, you can pick a bed in Centennial Hall, Conklin Hall, Kohl Hall, McDonald Hall, Kreischer or Offenhauer Towers – for yourself and one new BGSU student of your choice. New students who wish to live in Founders Hall must be members of the Honors Learning Community. Because of this, Founders Hall will not be available to select through this giveaway. The randomized drawing will occur by the third day of each month up until May 3. The Office of Student Housing will reach out to each winner through BGSU email and the phone number on file - make sure you have your voicemail box set up! If a winner doesn't respond within 24 hours, their right to the prize will be forfeited, and a new winner will be selected. Upon accepting the prize by picking a room before standard room selection, winners agree to participate in social media and other marketing efforts to promote the giveaway. When contacted, the Office of Student Housing will discuss with each winner how to select a room for themself and their chosen roommate. ________________________ Important Details: Students are not required to have their $200 initial housing payment made to be eligible to win. However, before any student can be assigned to a room, the initial housing payment must be paid. The additional student who is pulled into the room by a winner must have their housing and meal plan agreement signed and paid their $200 initial payment at the time of the room selection. They must also be a new incoming student admitted at BGSU to qualify. This prize does not offer any discount on the housing rate, and each student assigned to a room through this giveaway will be responsible for the full payment of the room in accordance with their student bill. Cancellations to the agreement by May 1, 2025, will receive a 100% refund and will not be billed. Cancellations after May 1, 2025, will be granted in accordance with the forfeiture schedule. If the winner does not submit an eligible student to be their roommate by the Office of Student Housing deadline, the remaining space will be forfeited. Once a student has won one of the 20 prizes, they will no longer be eligible to win the remaining prizes for this giveaway. Students who have agreed to be the roommate of one of the winners will also not be eligible. The beds selected by the winner and their roommate must be assigned to the same building. Any student who is assigned to a room through this giveaway does not have the right to their room assignment. If one of the students decides to do a room change into a different room/building or cancels their contract, the vacant bed will open up to standard room selection, and a random roommate may be assigned. Returning students who will be enrolled full-time at BGSU are not eligible to win.  The Office of Student Housing is not responsible for prize notifications being marked as spam, junk or otherwise hidden from the recipient.

FREE Martial Arts Classes

Learn taijutsu, a traditional Japanese martial art focused on self-awareness and natural body movement for self-defense. Taijutsu involves unarmed techniques for striking, kicking, blocking, grappling and throwing, traditional weapon techniques, and methods of evasion and escape from dangerous situations.  Who can attend? Open to BGSU students, faculty and staff, ages 14 and up.   All ability levels are welcome Why you should attend Classes are conducted in a supportive environment through which participants can improve their physical, menta, and spiritual well-being. How to attend Drop in to join this 6-7:30 p.m. class hosted on Tuesday class  between Jan. 14-April 29. (Class will not be hosted during spring break.) Class is hosted in the Martial Arts Studio (#38) in the sub-basement at the Student Rec Center Advance registration is not required. Wear comfortable clothing.  About the instructor Instructed by BGSU Chief Well-Being Officer, Ben Batey. Ben is a licensed instructor with over 20 years of experience in the art of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and currently holds the rank of 6th degree black belt. What’s Happening? Monday, Feb. 10 – Follow the Office of Health & Wellness on social media for expert tips, myth-busting facts and interactive quizzes. Tuesday, Feb. 11, Noon to 2 p.m. – Stop by the Union tables to get free giveaways and sexual health info from the Wood County Health Department, the Center for Women and Gender Equity and the Office of Health & Wellness. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 5-7 p.m. – Join the Office of Health & Wellness in BTSU 208 for a Sexual Health Presentation with safe sex kit giveaways, a safer sex raffle, crafts/coloring and the PAWS team.  Thursday, Feb. 13, 1:30-2:15 p.m. – Interested in a fun and empowering fitness class? Wood County Hospital Donation Drive

  The Center for Women and Gender Equity is partnering with Wood County Hospital for their annual donation drive! Donated items will benefit the Wood County Hospital SANE Department and Community Outreach programs. We are seeking new hygiene products, clothing, and other items, including but not limited to:  Tissues Shampoo/conditioner Soap Deodorant Washcloths Towels Lotion Toothbrushes/toothpaste Hair brushes/combs Mouthwash Toilet paper Menstrual products Laundry soap/pods and dryer sheets Hats Gloves Footwear (shoes and socks) Pregnancy clothing Winter clothing Sweats/sweatshirts Blankets Sleeping bags (for 0-10 degree cool weather) Water resistance coats/clothing Coats/jackets (adults) Boots If you wish to donate, you can buy items from the Donation Drive Wishlist and have them delivered to the CWGE or drop off donations in 280 Hayes Hall. The donation drive runs for the whole month of February.

New Quizzes is an updated assessment engine that integrates with Canvas and replaces the Classic Quizzes functionality. You will explore new question types such as Categorization, Ordering, and Hot Spots as well as discuss how to manage item banks. There are markers of AI-generated writing, and definitive methods to determine if a student has used AI to complete writing assignments. As a group, we will analyze a text to determine if it is written by generative AI and discuss approaches for empathetic student conversations after detecting AI-generate writing.    In this workshop, facilitators will review the markers of text generative written by large language AI models and discuss strategies to identify authentic student writing, and present practical classroom conversations about ethical AI use.    In this session, you will:  Describe the markers of text written by generative AI.   Analyze a text to determine if it is written by generative AI.    Discuss approaches for student mediation of generative AI use.    This session is part of the AI-Ready Assignment Design Series offered by the University Libraries and the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE).   SciENcv: How to Create Your Biosketches and Communicate Your Scholarly Contributions Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv) is a centralized system that allows researchers to develop and maintain biosketches for their grant proposals and annual reports.  In this interactive session, you will learn how to use SciENcv to document and communicate your scholarly contributions. Specifically, by completing this workshop, you should be able to: 1. Create and access your SciENcv account. 2. Use SciENcv to prepare a biosketch.  3. Export your biosketch. After providing a brief overview and introduction to SciENcv, we will provide a guided tutorial on how to create and access one’s SciENcv account. Next, workshop participants will receive guided assistance on how to use SciENcv to develop and export their biosketches.

They can listen to specific problems, help explore solutions and introduce you to what it’s like to speak with a member of the staff.  Please note: "Let's Talk" does not take the place of therapy, and consultations are not appropriate for urgent concerns or mental health emergencies.
