ASC Student Scholarship Walking Challenge

Start the new year moving together! We invite faculty and staff to join the ASC Student Scholarship Committee Jan. 19 – Feb. 13 for a Walking Challenge and track your miles over four weeks. Sign up anytime during the challenge! Whether you prefer walking the indoor track, using a stair climber, or getting your steps in around campus or at home, every mile counts.   Participants will track their distance and submit their mileage weekly. Walk when and where it works best for you, but please be honest about miles tracked! Prizes for the most miles logged include Spring semester Group Exercise membership, self-care items, and BGSU items from Falcon Outfitters.  A $10 donation to the Student Scholarship Fund is required to be eligible for prizes. All proceeds will support the Student Scholarship Fund.  Donate remotely:  1. Go online to begin donating  2. Enter $10 in the Amount field  3. Under Designation, enter Administrative Staff Council - Spendable  4. Enter your personal and payment information.  5. Select Donate!  Donate in person:  1. On-Campus Support  Our Commuter and Transfer Student Peer Mentor will be available to answer questions, offer resources and help you navigate campus life.  You'll leave each event with new friends and helpful tips to make your semester easier!

Three Minute Thesis (3MT)

Graduate students, want to share your research from this year? The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is a great place to hone your presentation and research communication skills while sharing your knowledge in three minutes using a single static PowerPoint slide. You will want to use language that someone who is not in your field will still understand. Register for the 3MT Competition today! The deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 6 (entries received after that date will be considered if space is available). If selected, competitors need to submit their presentation slide by 5 p.m. on Feb. 13. Competition Details The BGSU competition will be held on Feb. 19, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. in the BTSU Theatre (Room 206) and will offer the following prizes: 1st Place: $500 2nd Place: $300 3rd Place: $200 The first-place winner will also be entered into the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) 3MT competition, held on March 27, 2026, in Kansas City, MO. Intro to Canvas as a Graduate Student Instructor

Whether you're the instructor of record designing your own course in Canvas or supporting a faculty member or lab section using an existing Canvas shell, this session will help you build confidence and familiarity with the platform. We’ll explore key Canvas tools and best practices so you can effectively support student learning, communicate clearly, and manage grading more efficiently.  Why you should attend: Use global navigation and access your course.  Customize the course settings and navigation.  Upload course files and documents.  Create and add content, assignments, and weekly modules.  Manage Gradebook & Speedgrader.  To register for this event, use the Spring 2026 CFE-Session Registration Form Advance registration is required. FREE Martial Arts Classes

Learn Taijutsu involving unarmed techniques for striking, kicking, blocking, grappling, and throwing, traditional weapon techniques, and methods of evasion and escape.   Who can attend? Open to BGSU students, faculty and staff  All ability levels are welcome Why you should attend Classes are conducted in a supportive environment through which participants can improve their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. How to attend Drop in to join this 6-7:30 p.m. class on Tuesdays between January 13 - April 28. (No class on March 3) Class is hosted in the Martial Arts Studio (#38) in the sub-basement at the Rec Center Advance registration is not required. Wear comfortable clothing.  About the instructor Instructed by BGSU Senior Chief Community and Well-Being Officer, Ben Batey.   Ben is a licensed instructor with over 20 years of experience in the art of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and currently holds the rank of 6th degree black belt.
