Summer Faculty Writing Retreat Application - NOW OPEN!

Join the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and University Libraries for the Summer 2026 Faculty Writing Retreat, an intensive, three-day, in-person writing retreat running from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, July 31, 2026. Designed to advance participants’ individual goals and projects, this retreat will provide you with an opportunity to connect with colleagues, accomplish scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing goals, and receive resources and support from various departments across campus.   During each day of the retreat, you will have dedicated time to write and work individually on your own projects. The retreat also includes opportunities for goal-setting and networking, as well as sessions and individual consultations. At the end of the retreat, you will reflect on your accomplishments and set goals for the upcoming academic year.  By participating, you will be able to:  Identify specific and attainable goals for your scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing.  Advance your productivity.   Connect with BGSU colleagues.   Identify campus partners and resources that can support your scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing.   Reflect on your progress towards achieving your goals.   Devise a plan to maintain your productivity for the upcoming academic year.   What you need to know:  You must be able to participate in the entirety of the three-day retreat to apply for this opportunity and attend the event. Participation is open to full-time qualified rank faculty (QRF) and tenure-track faculty (TTF).  Interested individuals must apply to participate in the retreat. Applications will be reviewed, and acceptance will be based on the strength of the application, including clarity of goals and potential benefit to the applicant's scholarly and/or creative activity. Wild Northwest Ohio: Art and Awareness Exhibit

A Regional Art Exhibition Inspired by Nature Wild Northwest Ohio brings together three artists whose work explores the ecosystems, wildlife and changing landscapes of Northwest Ohio. Through photography, mixed-media painting and printmaking, the exhibition highlights the beauty and fragility of the region’s natural world while asking viewers to consider their role in environmental stewardship. This exhibition is ideal for those interested in environmental art, conservation, climate awareness, native species and regional artists. Featured Artists Lee Fearnside, photographer Fearnside documents Northwest Ohio’s wildlife areas and landscapes shaped by human activity. Her photography examines how development, agriculture and everyday choices affect fragile ecosystems. Barbara WF Miner, mixed-media painter Drawing from daily walks in local fields and forests, Miner creates layered works built through stencil, pattern and color. Her paintings evoke complex biomes and explore the deep interconnection between humans and the environments they inhabit. Kathy McGhee, printmaker McGhee approaches nature through close observation. Using animals, landscapes and symbolic objects, her prints prompt reflection on how we perceive and internalize the natural world. Zazen - Seated meditation led by an Instructor

Join us weekly for a period of zazen (or “seated meditation”), a meditative practice that encourages mental discipline, awareness of breath, and cultivating an ability to observe thoughts and emotions without judgment. Zazen encourages living in harmony with the way things are in the present moment and learning to look directly at life “as it is.” Instruction provided and no previous experience necessary. Classes every Wednesday this semester starting 2/4/26 except for the week of spring break on 3/4/26.

Young Women in Leadership Conference

On April 1, 2026 we will be holding a campus-wide conference to celebrate the empowerment of women on the BGSU campus, "Beyond the Known: Young Women in Leadership Conference”. During this three hour event, we will bring together 200+ BGSU students to educate and empower women and allies. This initiative will be accomplished through a keynote speaker, a 4 person panel, and an interactive speaker session. To celebrate the emerging female leaders on the BGSU campus, we plan on giving out $4,000 or more in scholarships to support these student's studies. There will be the opportunity for students to network with company partners, win raffle prizes, and meet other BGSU students. Doors will open at 12:30, with the event starting at 1 pm. Intentional Course Design: Engineering Learning Experiences for Meaningful Student Outcomes

In this session, you’ll be introduced to the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework and learn how to align learning outcomes, assessments, and instructional strategies to create coherent and impactful learning experiences. Artemis 2 Moon Mission Launch Planetarium Watch Event

  Are you excited for the upcoming Artemis 2 Launch, which will send astronauts on a fly by of the Moon for the first time in over 50 years? Come watch the launch in the BGSU Planetarium! The earliest time the launch may happen is April 1 at 6:24 p.m. EDT. We will open the doors at 5:30 p.m. and display a livestream of the launch. Please note, the launch may be delayed to a later date. Visit our Facebook page for updates about the launch and watch event. If the launch is pushed to Thursday, April 2, the watch event will immediately follow the regularly scheduled Planeterium show, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

"What Even Is a Question?" Presentation

Every community depends on a shared system of symbols to make meaning together, and the invisible structure that holds that system in place is information architecture. During this visit to the BGSU campus, Dan Klyn will share research findings around a key feature of this infrastructure: question-asking. The talk is called "What Even Is A Question," and if you stay to the end, you'll never ask one the same way again. Dan Klyn is an information architect, teacher, and question-asker. He is the co-founder of The Understanding Group, providing strategy and structure for digital products, including those empowered with artificial intelligence. FREE and open to the public, but RSVP is required. Organized jointly by the Department of Computer Science and Graphic Design program, in collaboration with the Visual Communication Technology program, Scientific and Technical Communication, Schmidthorst College of Business, and the School of Media & Communication.

Life Design Leadership Certificate Series

The Life Design Leadership Certificate (LDLC) is a program that will help you develop the mindsets and tools necessary to live a meaningful, purpose-driven life as a leader on campus and beyond. This certificate, offered by the C. Raymond Marvin Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement and the Radbill Center for College and Life Design, will help participants build confidence navigating an unknown future and make meaningful contributions to their community and organization. This certificate will build on the Life Design framework to empower you to enhance your personal and leadership development. The dates for LDLC are March 18th, March 25th and April 1st. Each session takes place from 7:00 to 8:30pm. This is a three-part series. Participants should plan on attending all three Wednesday sessions to receive the certificate. Music Plus

Music Plus is a longstanding partnership between the BGSU College of Musical Arts and Toledo Public Schools (TPS). For 10 weeks, on Wednesday evenings in the fall and spring semesters, approximately 30 TPS students travel to the Bowling Green campus for free supplemental music instruction. The evenings are segmented into private lessons taught by BGSU undergraduate and graduate students, ensembles led by a graduate student or a faculty member and other musical activities. This past fall included a piano lab taught by a graduate student; other semesters have included composition. The program culminates in a public performance in Bryan Recital Hall with the TPS students playing alongside BGSU students. In the spring, they often perform short pieces composed by students in the Music Plus program.
