Summer Faculty Writing Retreat Application - NOW OPEN!

Join the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and University Libraries for the Summer 2026 Faculty Writing Retreat, an intensive, three-day, in-person writing retreat running from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, July 31, 2026. Designed to advance participants’ individual goals and projects, this retreat will provide you with an opportunity to connect with colleagues, accomplish scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing goals, and receive resources and support from various departments across campus.   During each day of the retreat, you will have dedicated time to write and work individually on your own projects. The retreat also includes opportunities for goal-setting and networking, as well as sessions and individual consultations. At the end of the retreat, you will reflect on your accomplishments and set goals for the upcoming academic year.  By participating, you will be able to:  Identify specific and attainable goals for your scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing.  Advance your productivity.   Connect with BGSU colleagues.   Identify campus partners and resources that can support your scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing.   Reflect on your progress towards achieving your goals.   Devise a plan to maintain your productivity for the upcoming academic year.   What you need to know:  You must be able to participate in the entirety of the three-day retreat to apply for this opportunity and attend the event. Participation is open to full-time qualified rank faculty (QRF) and tenure-track faculty (TTF).  Interested individuals must apply to participate in the retreat. Wild Northwest Ohio: Art and Awareness Exhibit

A Regional Art Exhibition Inspired by Nature Wild Northwest Ohio brings together three artists whose work explores the ecosystems, wildlife and changing landscapes of Northwest Ohio. Through photography, mixed-media painting and printmaking, the exhibition highlights the beauty and fragility of the region’s natural world while asking viewers to consider their role in environmental stewardship. This exhibition is ideal for those interested in environmental art, conservation, climate awareness, native species and regional artists. Featured Artists Lee Fearnside, photographer Fearnside documents Northwest Ohio’s wildlife areas and landscapes shaped by human activity. Her photography examines how development, agriculture and everyday choices affect fragile ecosystems. Barbara WF Miner, mixed-media painter Drawing from daily walks in local fields and forests, Miner creates layered works built through stencil, pattern and color. Her paintings evoke complex biomes and explore the deep interconnection between humans and the environments they inhabit. Kathy McGhee, printmaker McGhee approaches nature through close observation. Using animals, landscapes and symbolic objects, her prints prompt reflection on how we perceive and internalize the natural world. We will be displaying the shirts in the courtyard (or in Falcon Square as a rain location). A member of the Interpersonal Relations staff will be available to talk and Campus Enagement and Student Life will provide decompression activities. CONTENT WARNING: This event will share the stories of those who have been impacted by violence. Please be aware of your own well-being and take time to process. BOOKMOBILE IS CANCELED FOR MAY The Wood County District Public Library (WCDPL) is coming to YOU! On the second Tuesday of every month, the WCDPL Bookmobile will make a regular stop on campus, offering convenient access to books, movies, music and audiobooks. The service will continue through the summer so students, faculty and staff can easily borrow and return library materials without making a special trip off campus. Whether you are looking for your next great read, a new audiobook for your commute or a film for the weekend, the Bookmobile makes borrowing simple and accessible. What You Can Borrow The Bookmobile will be stocked with: Current young adult fiction Adult fiction and nonfiction Movies Music Audiobooks Patrons may also request specific titles to be delivered to the campus stop. This is a convenient way to access popular titles, discover new authors and explore public library collections right on campus. Who Can Use the Bookmobile? All students, faculty and staff are eligible to use the Bookmobile and register for a library card. To register, you must present a state-issued ID. Parking and Accessibility The Bookmobile will be parked in Lot N adjacent to the Jerome Library. The Bookmobile is fully ADA accessible and includes a lift at the back of the vehicle.
