Summer Faculty Writing Retreat Application - NOW OPEN!

Join the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and University Libraries for the Summer 2026 Faculty Writing Retreat, an intensive, three-day, in-person writing retreat running from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, July 31, 2026. Designed to advance participants’ individual goals and projects, this retreat will provide you with an opportunity to connect with colleagues, accomplish scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing goals, and receive resources and support from various departments across campus.   During each day of the retreat, you will have dedicated time to write and work individually on your own projects. The retreat also includes opportunities for goal-setting and networking, as well as sessions and individual consultations. At the end of the retreat, you will reflect on your accomplishments and set goals for the upcoming academic year.  By participating, you will be able to:  Identify specific and attainable goals for your scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing.  Advance your productivity.   Connect with BGSU colleagues.   Identify campus partners and resources that can support your scholarship, creative activity, research and/or writing.   Reflect on your progress towards achieving your goals.   Devise a plan to maintain your productivity for the upcoming academic year.   What you need to know:  You must be able to participate in the entirety of the three-day retreat to apply for this opportunity and attend the event. Participation is open to full-time qualified rank faculty (QRF) and tenure-track faculty (TTF).  Interested individuals must apply to participate in the retreat. HOW TO APPLY STEP 1: Complete the 2026 Summer Faculty Writing Retreat Application Template. STEP 2: Complete the 2026 Summer Faculty Writing Retreat Application Form.  Apply by Wednesday, May 13. Applications will be reviewed, and acceptance will be based on the strength of the application, including clarity of goals and potential benefit to the applicant's scholarly and/or creative activity. WYMO Donation Period (When You Move Out, Don't Throw It Out!)

For over 20 years the WYMO program has provided an opportunity for the university community to donate non-perishable food, clothin & shoes, household items, books/school supplies, small furniture, organizers, electronics, dorm decorations, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, bedding, mirrors, toiletries and anything that's still usable instead of throwing it out!  Donations benefit the Falcon Food Pantry, the BGSU community, and a number of area nonprofits and charities in need. Visit our website for the charities we've served. Use up those Falcon Dollars to donate to the Falcon Food Pantry! Can't fit it in your car to take home?  Have too much? Or maybe you want to help the public good? Whatever the case, collection boxes will be in all Residence Hall lobbies, Greek Townhouses, BGSU Dining Markets, and the Bowen-Thompson Student Union lobby starting April 15 through the close of the Res Halls on May 2! Wild Northwest Ohio: Art and Awareness Exhibit

A Regional Art Exhibition Inspired by Nature Wild Northwest Ohio brings together three artists whose work explores the ecosystems, wildlife and changing landscapes of Northwest Ohio. Through photography, mixed-media painting and printmaking, the exhibition highlights the beauty and fragility of the region’s natural world while asking viewers to consider their role in environmental stewardship. This exhibition is ideal for those interested in environmental art, conservation, climate awareness, native species and regional artists. Featured Artists Lee Fearnside, photographer Fearnside documents Northwest Ohio’s wildlife areas and landscapes shaped by human activity. Her photography examines how development, agriculture and everyday choices affect fragile ecosystems. Barbara WF Miner, mixed-media painter Drawing from daily walks in local fields and forests, Miner creates layered works built through stencil, pattern and color. Her paintings evoke complex biomes and explore the deep interconnection between humans and the environments they inhabit. Kathy McGhee, printmaker McGhee approaches nature through close observation. Using animals, landscapes and symbolic objects, her prints prompt reflection on how we perceive and internalize the natural world. Learn Taijutsu involving unarmed techniques for striking, kicking, blocking, grappling, and throwing, traditional weapon techniques, and methods of evasion and escape.   Who can attend? Open to BGSU students, faculty, staff and Rec Members  All ability levels are welcome Why you should attend Classes are conducted in a supportive environment through which participants can improve their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. How to attend Drop in to join this 6-7:30 p.m. class on Tuesdays between January 13 - April 28. (No class on March 3) Class is hosted in the Martial Arts Studio (#38) in Lower Level II at the Rec Center Advance registration is not required. Wear comfortable clothing.  About the instructor Instructed by BGSU Senior Chief Community and Well-Being Officer, Ben Batey.   Ben is a licensed instructor with over 20 years of experience in the art of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and currently holds the rank of 6th degree black belt.
