Cultivating Critical Thinking in an AI-Enhanced Classroom

Thu, Apr 9, 2026 11am to 12:30pm

Virtual Event

New
This capstone session elevates AI integration beyond tool proficiency to develop student critical thinking capabilities. You’ll explore seven critical thinking strands and design learning activities that cultivate these meta-competencies. We’ll demonstrate instructional minimalism—using AI to help students “start at 80% done”—and establish peer support networks for your continued journey.  By the end of this session, you will be able to:   Design learning experiences that develop student judgment when AI outputs conflict   Create assignments that foster productive skepticism about AI claims   Apply the instructional minimalism principle (“Start at 80% Done”)   Develop reflection activities that help students examine their AI relationship   Establish a personal action plan with accountability structures  Identify colleagues for ongoing peer support  To register for this event, use the Spring 2026 CFE-Facilitated Session Registration Form Advance registration is required. Registration will close one business day before the scheduled event. You will receive an Outlook invite with the Zoom link one day before the event.  To find out more information about this session, visit the Session Catalog page of the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) website.  If you have any questions about this event, email the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) at cfe@bgsu.edu    If you need special services, assistance or appropriate modifications to fully participate in the event, please contact the CFE office or Accessibility Services at access@bgsu.edu or 419-372-8495.
