A talk/art-sharing experience that encapsulates Dr. Hagan’s experience working in community with a specific focus on addressing trauma through the arts. She brings her experience working in family services and mental health communities, to attend to the gendered dimensions of domestic violence (DV), and the possibilities of the expressive arts to provide a healing practice. Hagan will engage participants in the role of community-engaged expressive art in generating participatory practices to help people heal themselves and each other.

Dr. Hagan, currently an Associate Professor and the Program Director for the MFA in Contemporary Theatre and Performance at the New School, is a specialist in social justice, dance, and interdisciplinary art and site-specific work. She has worked in numerous community partnerships that bring the expressive arts to a public-facing platform. You can learn more about her work here: https://www.carahagan.net/
