Art expert Driskell to talk about BGSU exhibition

BGSU’s School of Art offers a unique opportunity to see 58 works of African American art and to hear Dr. David Driskell, one of the world’s leading authorities on African American art.

Dr. Driskell will present “Then and Now: Vital Topics in African American Art” at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 in 113 Olscamp Hall.

Following his presentation, a reception will be held in the Willard Wankelman Gallery in the Fine Arts Center. Guests will be able to view the artwork created by 18 African-American artists with connections to Ohio, including Bernie Casey, who was best known to the world as an actor and professional football player.

The exhibition, titled “So Much More: Ohio’s African-American Artists,” is on display through Oct. 21. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays 6-9 p.m. and Sundays 1-4 p.m. (Closed on Mondays). The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Bowling Green State University (BGSU) has built their website around the Standards of the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) 5 and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).  The website was built in compliance with the accessibility standards established by section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and detailed in section 1194.22 of the Code of Federal Regulations, “Web-based intranet and internet information and applications” (https://www.section508.gov/).
