The College of Education and Human Development welcomes incoming students with a bell-ringing at the Little Red School House, near the college.
The Little Red School House sits at the center of campus to remind us that, at its heart, BGSU continues to honor our heritage as a normal school: an institution to train teachers by educating them in the norms of pedagogy and curriculum.
The Little Red School House was built in Norwalk in 1875. It moved to BGSU 100 years later, with the help of David G. Elsass, Ph.D., who was dean of the College of Education (as it was called during his tenure).
