As part of Bowling Green State University’s annual Black History Month celebration and programming, the University will host its 25th Black Issues Conference (BIC). The conference will focus on the theme “Reviving, Renewing, Rebuilding." This year’s conference will feature keynote speaker Hill Harper and a closing performance by world-renowned jazz musicians.

Conference highlights

  • Honoring 100 years of the life and legacy of BGSU writer-in-residence (1978) and Distinguished Visiting Professor of Ethnic Studies (1979) James Baldwin
  • Celebrating the skills, talents and contributions of the Black community
  • Spotlighting prominent alumni, faculty, faculty emeriti and community members

With an emphasis on life and career design, the event’s lead sponsor is the Kuhlin Hub for Career Design and Connections, which serves all Bowling Green students in preparation for a lifetime of careers through coaching, employment services and connections with companies and alumni. Panel discussions at the event will include how alumni have used the skills they gained during their college experience in their careers and community engagement.
