This workshop will focus on designing specific, measurable civic learning outcomes. This workshop will address the definition and components of civic learning, as well as how attention to semantics and syntax in learning outcomes can help instructors to design assignments that enable clear assessment of student learning. Participants are encouraged to bring their syllabi and current learning outcomes for review and adding of civic learning outcomes.
Workshop goals and learning objectives include:
To define and clarify definitions of civic engagement, civic learning, and civic mindedness.
To promote the use of civic learning outcomes in courses across the curriculum.
To provide faculty and staff with the tools to design and assess civic learning in their courses and programs.
To learn about how the Center for Public Impact can support the integration of civic learning into courses and programs.
