This workshop is for faculty and staff who would like to learn the basics of integrating community-based learning (also known as service-learning) pedagogy into their course or program and how to identify and establish a relationship with a community partner. This workshop will provide examples of different levels of community-based learning involvement for courses in diverse topics and disciplines, as well as a variety of models of campus-community partnerships.
To define and clarify working definitions of community-based learning and other terms associated with this pedagogical practice.
To increase awareness of community-based learning pedagogy.
To train faculty and staff in best practices of reflection, community partnerships, and civic learning outcomes.
To learn about how the Center for Public Impact can support community-based learning.
To share examples of BGSU community-based learning courses and programs.
