  for a Homecoming tradition with a new name! Formerly the Freddie and Fried
 a 5K\, this fan-favorite event now honors legendary Falcon and Olympic gold
  medalist Dave Wottle ‘73\, who captured the world’s attention with his ico
 nic 800-meter victory in 1972. \n\nThe 5K kicks off at the Alumni Gateway a
 nd winds through campus\, finishing near McDonald Hall – just steps from th
 e BiG Breakfast at The Oaks. Whether you're chasing a new personal record o
 r enjoying a fun walk with family\, runners and walkers of all ages and abi
 lities are welcome.\n\nStick around after the race for the 100-meter Kids D
