Empty Place at the Table

October 3 – October 31 2022

Dining locations across BGSU Campus

The Center for Violence Prevention and Education presents Empty Place at the Table to honor and recognize women and children in Northwest Ohio who have had their lives taken due to domestic violence. This project began in 1993 in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, and the display demonstrates the way domestic violence devastates a community and family. These victims of violence will not be forgotten.

Domestic/dating violence can be perpetrated in many different forms: physical and sexual violence, stalking, intimidation, control, manipulation, coercion, and emotional abuse. Do you know what “red flags” to look out for?

All stories have been provided by the Bethany House in Toledo, OH. The exhibit will be on display from October 3rd to October 31st in BGSU’s dining halls.

Contact cvpe@bgsu.edu for more information, or visit our website at bgsu.edu/cvpe

Note: The CVPE recognizes that Domestic Violence Awareness Month can be a difficult time for people, so Thursdays in October our Lounge in 278 Hayes Hall will be a designated safe space for anyone who needs time to decompress, meditate, or talk to one of our staff members. Additionally, the lounge is open Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm—students, faculty, and staff are welcome to stop in for support, a snack, a hot beverage, or a free craft from our craft cart.
