WBGU is partnering with the Physics and Astronomy Dept. to host “Eclipse Activities for Kids” at the BGSU Planetarium Thurs., Feb. 29 from 5:30-6:15 p.m. The goal is to excite and educate elementary/middle school children and their families about the upcoming eclipse by providing engaging hands-on learning activities and resources. WBGU-PBS mascot Ruby-the-Red Eyed Tree Frog will make a special appearance. BGSU Physics and Astronomy Professors Dr. Andrew Layden and Dr. Kate Dellenbusch will be on hand to answer adult questions about eclipses and viewing safety. Attendees will receive eclipse viewing glasses; a space-related children’s book; a copy of “Sun, Moon & Shadows,” WBGU-PBS’s eclipse guide and activity companion; and more! Pizza will be served. Participants are welcome to stay for a 6:30 p.m. planetarium show called "It's About Time” explaining the February 29 Leap Day. The show is free, but a $1 donation is encouraged.
