Dr. Shannon Orr, BGSU Professor of Political Science and Coordinator of the Master’s in Public Administration Program will present on the serious threat that the invasive species Asian Carp presents to the Great Lakes.  Imported to the U.S. in the 1970s as a “green” alternative to chemicals in aquaculture ponds, they have escaped in waterways and have ruined local ecosystems, devastated recreational fishing and are one of the greatest crises in history to face the Great Lakes. Dr. Orr will discuss all of these issues as well as potential solutions to the impending crisis.
