Community Organizations' Role in Combating Sex Trafficking and Sex Tourism

Join the Institute for the Study of Culture and Society in welcoming one of our 2018 Fall Faculty Fellows, Dr. Lara Martin Lengel.

Dr. Lengel's project addresses faith-based organizations’ (FBOs) role in combating sex trafficking of women and children in Costa Rica. It analyzes how the decriminalization of sex work in Costa Rica affects FBOs’ advocacy and support efforts. The proiect builds on Dr. Lengel’s 25-year research program on transnational feminism and critical intercultural communication studies.
