Please join us for the screening of Antigone and meet Québec's film maker, Sophie Deraspe, to explore the connections between the world of myth and contemporary Canada. 

Deraspe will introduce the film and be on hand for a Q& A session. Refreshments will be served.

Presented as part of the Pallister French-Canadian Lecture Series, Antigone is a modern adaptation of the classic Greek tragedy of the same name. Antigone confronts the authorities – the police, the judicial and penal systems, and the father of her friend, Haemon – in her quest for justice for her imprisoned brother.

Antigone is a French language film, shown with English subtitles. 

This film is part of the International Film Series, organized by the Department of World Languages and Cultures. 

Students interested in global issues, film and/or Canadian society are welcome to drop in for a brunch in the Global Village (McDonald Hall) on Thursday, March 19, 9-10:30 a.m.
