The International Studies Program Presents the International Film Festival 2020: Insider/Outsider. The Fruit Machine, Canada, 2018. The documentary focuses on the first-person accounts of some of the thousands directly affected by the purge of gays and lesbians from the Canadian public service and armed forces in the period 1954-1989. From suspicion to surveillance to interrogation and release from employment for no other reason than sexual orientation, thousands of careers and lives were destroyed.
