The eStrella Latin American & Latino/a/x Studies Student Research Conference is an annual forum featuring original scholarship (in the form of research papers or poster presentations) and creative work (such as painting, ceramics, photography, movement, media installations, and spoken word). The conference supports student research, increases the visibility of Latino/a/x cultures and recognizes the accomplishments of Latino/a/x communities.

This year's conference will feature award-winning author, editor and educator Dr. Frederick Luis Aldama as keynote speaker. Born in Mexico and raised in north-central California, Aldama serves as the Jacob and Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities at the University of Texas at Austin. He is also editor-in-chief of Latinx Pop Magazine and has published over 50 books, including the Eisner-winning "Latinx Superheroes in Mainstream Comics." Beyond books, Aldama produces and co-creates documentaries and animated shorts.
