On Thursday, August 27 into the 28th, a partial lunar eclipse will be visible from Bowling Green and across the Americas, Europe, and Africa.  During a lunar eclipse the Moon passes through Earth’s shadow and can take on a dark copper red color. 

Join us for a special showing of the planetarium show TOTALITY and then view the eclipse from the roof of the Physical Sciences Building, weather permitting, or via a livestream in the Planetarium if it's cloudy in Bowling Green.  We will begin the planetarium show at 9:30 p.m. and then go to the roof for the beginning of the partial eclipse at 10:33 p.m. The maximum eclipse, where 93% of the Moon will be within the Earth’s shadow, occurs at 12:12 a.m.

In TOTALITY, you’ll see how both lunar and solar eclipses occur.  Additionally, the program looks back on how solar eclipses were used to test Einstein’s general relativity in the first half of the 20^th century. This charming show is both educational and entertaining.

Doors for the planetarium show will close 5 minutes after the published showtime. Come for just one or both parts of the evening.
