RED FLAGS IN SUPPORT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH
Did you know that 1 in 5 college students experience dating violence?
Acts of dating/domestic violence can show up in many ways such as physical, emotional, mental sexual and control and manipulation.
If you have the chance to be on main campus during the month of October, we invite you to show your support by visiting this impactful art display supporting the national Red Flag Campaign located between University Hall and the Education Building.
There are 669 red flags installed on main campus representing the number of reported acts of dating and domestic violence in Wood Count in 2018.
BGSU uses a bystander intervention strategy to address and prevent sexual assault, dating violence and stalking on college campuses. The Green Dot strategy provides training in bystander intervention by identifying warning signs "red flags" of unhealthy relationships. A few tips to assist a fellow Falcon are:
Direct: Personally and directly addressing the harm.
Distract: Defuse the situation and disrupt the behavior.
Delegate: Ask someone else to help you out.
