Screening of "The Debut"

Free screening of "The Debut" will take place on May 3rd in BTSU 206 starting at 6:30 pm. “The Debut” is the first known Filipino American feature drama produced in the U.S. Gene Cajayon’s seminal film tells the story of teenager Ben Mercado rejecting his Asian heritage in order to assimilate in America. His contentious relationship with his immigrant father comes to a head at his sister’s 18th birthday party. Dante Basco, famous as Rufio in "Hook," plays Ben. Dr. Khani Begum will facilitate a talk on the Asian American experience after the screening. Email Trinidad Linares at tlinare@bgsu.edu with questions.
