About this Event
Discrimination still occurs at universities. ‘Picture a Scientist’ is an acclaimed documentary that chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women in science. It highlights the inequalities that Nancy Hopkins from MIT, Raychelle Burks at American University in Washington DC, and Jane Willenbring at Stanford University have experienced in their careers, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. From these unfortunate events, they provide new perspectives on how to make our universities more diverse, equitable, and open to all. The viewing of ‘Picture a Scientist’ is open to everyone and will occur on Wednesday March 30 at 5:30 in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theater, room 206.
