Threads is an Art Exhibition of African Textiles, Weaves, Crafts and more. The exhibition features traditional clothing attire from Madagascar, Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, etc. The art exhibition would highlight the unique culture of these African countries and the symbolic use of their textiles and other art forms. The proverb cloths from Ghana, Nigeria, Madagascar and other parts of East and West Africa are quite unique because of the message embedded in them. The bright colored designs are always aesthetically pleasing.
The exhibition would feature, Kente and Adinkra from Ghana, Adire and batik from Nigeria, Lambamena burial shrouds from Madagascar and proverbs cloths from around Africa. The exhibition would also highlight how these cloths are used in ceremonial functions and the prestige attached to the various types and designs available.
