The Department of Theatre and Film presents If Beale Street Could Talk for this week's Tuesday Night Screening film. The 2018 film  (119 minutes) that is directed by Barry Jenkins is based on the novel by James Baldwin, which tells the story of Tish (KiKi Layne) and Fonny (Stephan James), a young couple filled with optimism over Tish's pregnancy. Their lives are thrust into chaos when Fonny is arrested for rape and their families are discontent over Tish's pregnancy. Tish's mother Sharon (Regina King, best-supporting actress) helps shepherd them through the troubling times.

The screenings are free and open to the public.
