Appetizers are on BGSU Alumni, and beverages can be purchased individually. After the social, we will head to the stadium for a special experience together. The Alumni Office and Kuhlin Career Hub are collaborating to host our first-ever Network Night in the Cleveland area for students and alumni of the College of Health and Human Services. This is a great opportunity for students and alumni to network and share their questions and expertise in Health and Human Services. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be provided and there is free and ample parking. Students in attendance will be coming from the following areas: -Medical and Laboratory Science -Communication Disorders -Health Care Administration -Public Health -Social Work -Nursing -Nutrition Sciences -Criminal Justice -Dietetics -Medicine, Dentistry, Physical Therapy, Optometry, Physician Assistant, Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy (pre-professional areas) - -Business -Other students interested in working in and around these industries/ fields Dean Jim Ciesla will also be in attendance. BGSU will mark Extra Yard for Teachers Week during its Homecoming football game with a special recognition for teachers in attendance.  Extra Yard for Teachers Week is a nationwide celebration of teachers, led by College Football Playoff Foundation, that uses the platform of college football to show appreciation of educators in communities across the country.  Teachers are able to purchase discounted tickets to the Homecoming football game, where they will be asked to stand and be recognized during the game as part of a special presentation.  We invite all area teachers and alumni working in education to join us Homecoming weekend as we add yet another reason to celebrate.  Purchase discounted educator tickets

Rear Adm. June E. Ryan: Successfully Navigating Challenges and Storms

Rear Adm. June E. Ryan, USCG (Ret.) '84 will deliver a public talk on "Successfully Navigating Challenges and Storms." This dynamic speaking engagement embraces themes of leadership, perserverence and grit and will inspire all audiences. Thursday, Sept. 21 2:30 p.m. Bowen-Thompson Student Union, Theater (Room 206) The event is free and open to public. No registration required. Ryan is one of the 2023 inductees in the BGSU Academy of Distinguished Alumni, the University's highest honor. Ryan, the first enlisted woman in the Coast Guard to rise to the rank of Rear Admiral, is an in-demand motivational speaker, seminar leader and corporate trainer. Ryan draws on her 35 years of military service as she leads and develops workforces across the country and around the world.

  Join us on August 24, 2023, from 5-8 pm at BGSU Fine Art Gallery for an evening that promises an exploration of mastery and legacy through two distinct exhibitions that mark the opening of our 2023/2024 exhibition Program.   In the Wankelman Gallery "Bill Helwig: A Life in Enamel", a retrospective curated by BGSU student Matthew Bowlus that unravels the exceptional journey of the revered enamel artist, Bill Helwig. With a prolific five-decade career, Helwig's works are a testament to his unparalleled ability to marry color, texture, and form. This exhibition spotlights meticulously crafted pieces, from his nascent experimental forms to his mature, signature style. Beyond the enameling brilliance, each piece underscores Helwig's knack for embedding narratives, emotions, and a unique perspective on life and the natural realm.   Parallel to this is "Life's Work: Emeriti Exhibition", a group exhibition within the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery honoring eight of BGSU's distinguished retired faculty. These artists, having dedicated years to teaching, have also tirelessly pursued their personal artistic vision throughout. Within retirement years, artists have had the opportunity to magnify thier artistic pursuits, showcasing their accumulated passion and achievements after decades of creative excellent and education.   All students and the local community are cordially invited to this unique juxtaposition of seasoned craft and academic excellence. Don't miss the opportunity to celebrate with us on August 24th - A Conversation with the Artists 5-6pm, followed by a reception 6-8pm.
