Event Schedule 9:30 a.m. | Opening Remarks 9:35-10:25 a.m. | Keynote Presentation - Dr. Amy Robinson Dr. Amy Robinson is Professor of Spanish at Bowling Green State University and Chair of the Department of World Languages and Cultures. Her research and teaching focuses on political resistance and marginalized identities in historical literature, popular culture, and film. Her work on Mexican literature, culture and film has been published in journals such as Studies in Latin American Popular Culture, Bulletin of Spanish Studies and more. 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Presentations Keynote Presentation: "Global Engagement in the Age of AI: Why Intercultural Communication Skills Matter More Than Ever."  In an age when artificial intelligence can translate text and speech with remarkable efficiency, one might imagine that developing intercultural skills has lost relevancy. However, the need remains vital for professionals and citizens who can collaborate across cultures, interpret intercultural contexts, and build cross-cultural relationships. Communicating effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse communities requires more than transactional translation; it requires empathy, respect, and the ability to see from multiple cultural perspectives. Global engagement, moreover, involves cultivating a worldview that recognizes the lived meaning of cultural traditions. This presentation explores concrete examples to illustrate why interdisciplinary learning—especially the integration of language study and intercultural competence—remains vital for success in our interconnected world.

Join us to celebrate the impressive and wide-ranging undergraduate research, scholarly and creative projects conducted by our undergraduate students. This event is sponsored by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (CURS). SUBMIT YOUR PRESENTATION Deadline for submissions: Friday, March 14 Any undergraduate student who has conducted a research, scholarly or creative project with a faculty mentor in any discipline is invited to present their findings. Individual and group presentations will be accepted. Presentation submissions are now closed. EVENT DETAILS No registration is necessary to attend this event. Symposium on Diversity

Join us as BGSU undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members and staff share their diversity studies presentations during our annual Symposium on Diversity! See presentations on topics related to diversity in all areas, including but not limited to culture, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, age, disability and socio-economic status. Interested in participating? Submit your presentation by Friday, Dec. 13. Event Agenda 9:30-9:45 a.m. - Welcoming and Opening Remarks 9:45-10:30 a.m. - Keynote Speaker: Haley Anissa Alvarez, MA  It takes the whole pueblo! 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Poster viewing and presentations ---------   An ASL interpreter will be available for the keynote presentation. Presenters have also been asked to provide accessible versions of their poster presentations. Attend and help us celebrate the achievements of these accomplished students!  Headline Presentation registration Deadline for presentation registration is March 22 at 5 p.m., but extensions can be requested by emailing the CURS director, Dr. Cordula Mora, at cmora@bgsu.edu. Faculty-mentored projects in all disciplines are welcomed. No CURS funding required to give a presentation at this event.  No registration is necessary to attend this event. Light refreshments will be served.

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship hosts the ninth annual Symposium on Diversity. This symposium offers undergraduate/graduate students and faculty, as well as administrative and classified staff, the opportunity to hear and see findings on critical issues related to diversity in the broadest sense within a wide variety of fields. Keynote speaker Amanda Paniagua will present a speech titled: Seeing Ourselves in Others: The Power of Collective Stories. Additional speakers include Dr. Janet Hartley, interim vice provost for academic affairs of Bowling Green State University, and Dr. Cordula Mora, director of the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship. No registration is necessary to attend this event. All are welcome to come and go throughout the day.
