Symposium on Diversity

Join us as BGSU undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members and staff share their diversity studies presentations during our annual Symposium on Diversity! See presentations on topics related to diversity in all areas, including but not limited to culture, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, age, disability and socio-economic status. Interested in participating? Submit your presentation by Friday, Dec. 13. Event Agenda 9:30-9:45 a.m. - Welcoming and Opening Remarks 9:45-10:30 a.m. - Keynote Speaker: Haley Anissa Alvarez, MA  It takes the whole pueblo! 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Poster viewing and presentations ---------   An ASL interpreter will be available for the keynote presentation. Presenters have also been asked to provide accessible versions of their poster presentations. To individuals with disabilities, if you need additional services to fully participate in this event, contact Accessibility Services at access@bgsu.edu or 419-372-8495, and notify CURS in advance by reaching out to Dr. Cordula Mora at cmora@bgsu.edu.

Join us to celebrate the impressive and wide-ranging undergraduate research, scholarly and creative projects conducted by our undergraduate students. This event is sponsored by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (CURS). SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL Submissions accepted starting March 10, 2025 Deadline for submissions: March 30, 2025 Any undergraduate student who has conducted a research, scholarly or creative project with a faculty mentor in any discipline is invited to present their findings. Individual and group presentations will be accepted. How to submit your proposal EVENT DETAILS No registration is necessary to attend this event. Light refreshments will be served. 9 a.m. Keynote speaker Alice Smith, “Why research is so important” 10 a.m. to noon Poster presentations Noon to 1 p.m. Lunch 1 p.m Award ceremony

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (CURS) wants to highlight the impressive and wide-ranging undergraduate research, scholarly and creative projects taking place at BGSU. Attend and help us celebrate the achievements of these accomplished students!  Headline Presentation registration Deadline for presentation registration is March 22 at 5 p.m., but extensions can be requested by emailing the CURS director, Dr. Cordula Mora, at cmora@bgsu.edu. Faculty-mentored projects in all disciplines are welcomed. No CURS funding required to give a presentation at this event.  No registration is necessary to attend this event. Light refreshments will be served.

Symposium on Diversity

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship hosts the ninth annual Symposium on Diversity. This symposium offers undergraduate/graduate students and faculty, as well as administrative and classified staff, the opportunity to hear and see findings on critical issues related to diversity in the broadest sense within a wide variety of fields. Keynote speaker Amanda Paniagua will present a speech titled: Seeing Ourselves in Others: The Power of Collective Stories. Additional speakers include Dr. Janet Hartley, interim vice provost for academic affairs of Bowling Green State University, and Dr. Cordula Mora, director of the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship. No registration is necessary to attend this event. All are welcome to come and go throughout the day. Expand Your Horizons 2023

Weeks of Welcome Aug. 15 - Oct. 2 | This event is part of the Fall Weeks of Welcome which begins with Move-in Week and extends through Fall Break. During this celebration, explore opportunities hosted by the campus community to embrace the adventure of creating your own Ultimate BGSU Experience. 7th Annual Symposium on Diversity

  The 7th Annual Symposium on Diversity, hosted by The Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (CURS), offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to share findings on critical issues related to diversity within their respective fields. Call for Proposals Undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines may submit proposals to give a poster presentation on research, scholarly, or creative work related to diversity in the broadest sense (including topics related to diversity, including culture, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, age, disability and socioeconomic status). Both group and individual presentations will be accepted. Presentations can be based on work completed either as part of a course or as an extra-curricular project under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Deadline: Extended to Friday, March 18. All presentations are encouraged to be also presented at the annual BGSU Undergraduate Research Symposium.
