2026 Public and Allied Health Symposium

AI for the Public Good Free to attend. In-person registration closes March 18. Livestream registration closes March 31. At this year’s symposium, students, staff, alumni and regional experts will come together to explore “AI for the Public Good,” focusing on: The economic, environmental and ethical impacts of data centers The use of AI to enhance outcomes in criminal justice systems The development of problem-based AI tools to support environmental health professionals How AI-driven technologies can foster stronger human connection and wellbeing How BGSU is leveraging AI to expand academic innovation and new degree opportunities Together, the program emphasizes responsible, community-centered applications of AI across various industries. Register now. Agenda 10-11 a.m.: In-person registration 11 a.m. to noon: The Ned Baker Keynote Address Noon to 1 p.m.: Center of Excellence in Health & Wellness Research Poster Showcase 1-2 p.m.: Platform presentations, complimentary lunch and awards 2-3 p.m.: Expert panel session with Audience Q&A: AI Applications in Healthcare, Criminal Justice and Education  Can't attend? Meet with faculty members and current students, observe a live lab immersion experience, and participate in a campus tour. Light refreshments will be provided. Research Presentation: Sustainable Food Choices by Dr. Jonathan Kershaw

Dr. Jonathan Kershaw, Associate Professor and researcher with the BGSU Department of Public & Allied Health will be presenting his research on the intersection of sustainability and food choices. His talk is titled "Walking the Talk: How can our food choices match our sustainable aspirations?" We often have the intention to live sustainably, but does our behavior actually reflect that? Dr. Kershaw looks at the way we interact with food and informational strategies to promote healthier and more environmentally sustainable food choices. How can we discuss food and not have some? Free food will be provided courtesy of BGSU Catering. Gluten-avoiding option is Tandoori Chicken Kebab and a vegetarian option of Spanakopita.
