  Introduction by Dr. Cortland Rankin, Associate Professor Transplanting Jane Austen’s Emma to 1990s LA, Amy Heckerling’s film is equal parts high school comedy, rom-com, and satire. Clueless changed the landscape of teen films, fashion, and even language itself (as if!). Trouble (and hilarity) soon follow. Free and open to the public. CONTENT WARNING: A Dead Man's Apartment contains strong language, including the use of a derogatory slur, sexual themes, and references to suicide and homicide. A Dead Man's Cul-de-Sac contains strong language, including the use of a derogatory slur, violence, and references to sexual blackmail.

International Film Series: "Antigone" (2019)

  Please join us for the screening of Antigone and meet Québec's film maker, Sophie Deraspe, to explore the connections between the world of myth and contemporary Canada.  Deraspe will introduce the film and be on hand for a Q& A session. Refreshments will be served. Presented as part of the Pallister French-Canadian Lecture Series, Antigone is a modern adaptation of the classic Greek tragedy of the same name. Antigone confronts the authorities – the police, the judicial and penal systems, and the father of her friend, Haemon – in her quest for justice for her imprisoned brother.
